Chapter 3 by Dark_Ness Dark_Ness

How do you handle school?

Try to act as normal as possible

You looked yourself over in the mirror, not all that impressed with what you saw. You wore a sweatshirt that hid your new chest pretty well, but as small as you were now you practically swam in it. A pair of jeans that hid the rest of your curves but left you tripping unless you kept the legs rolled way up and fell down constantly unless you kept a belt tightly cinched. The one thing you had relented on was new shoes, because there had been no way you could have gotten away with your old ones. Still, converse came in women's sizes, so that was easy enough to fix.

Grabbing your backpack, you winced. It felt so much heavier now. You pulled it on and went downstairs, ignoring the way your breasts bounced with each step. Once in the kitchen, your mother turned to look at you as you grabbed a banana.

"Are you sure you're okay going to school like that?" She didn't mean as a girl. She had been adamant that you not miss too much school once you all knew you weren't going to die from this whole mess. She meant the clothes.

"I'm not gonna jump into skirts and dresses."

"You should at least have things that really fit you," she said, plaintive. "We might be able to find something in Ellie's old stuff..."

"Nope, I'm good."

She sighed, seemingly relenting. "Okay, are you sure you don't want a ride?"

"It's already going to be weird enough, I just want as much normal as possible."

"Okay, well... have a good day then, dear." You grunted a response, then ducked out the back door. Early enough that Ellie wasn't up and ready enough to give you crap about your clothes and stuff like she had for the last few days. Rounding the house, you looked up and down the street and spotted James, your best friend.

"Hey, dude!" you yell, waving at him.

"Oh, uh... hey Alex," James says. "Really going back today?"

"Figured I need to get it over with at some point," you say, peeling the banana and trying to ignore how much taller than you he is now. "How bad are the rumors?"

"I mean, it's been the hot topic since it happened. It's not every day that a dude becomes a girl," he says. "And apparently the cops are still looking for that substitute, because how does something like that happen? Some of the others think he wasn't even a real teacher, and that he... uh..." he trailed off, and you raised an eyebrow at him.

He was watching you pretty intently, and you weren't sure why. You bit the banana that was in your mouth, pulling it away and swallowing the half that you bit off. Once that was done, you cleared your throat. "What?"

"Nothing," James said, almost too quickly. Shrugging, you went back to eating, the two of you walking in silence. When you finished, you tossed the peel into the nearest trash can and wiped your hands. The school came into view, and you shoved your hands into your sweatshirt pocket. As the two of you approached, students turned to look at you, whispers starting.

It kept up like that when you went to your locker, then into your homeroom. At that point, you didn't even have James with you any longer. You kept your head down, focused on doodling in your notebook and waiting for classes to start.

Are you interrupted before class?
