Chapter 9 by Spioch Spioch

Luckily the cab arrived, and put a pin in a conversation.

Later. At the apartment.

"For now - you'll sleep here" said Julia leading Karolina to the servant's quarters.

It was probably not the servant's room for at least a century, but she bet that's what it's original purpose was. It was separated from the rest of the apartment by the kitchen, and roughly 3 by 2 meters. Just enough to put a small bed into it, and one small wardrobe.

"Enough for the lowly servant girl" she said out loud making Karolina squirm. "Plus it's close to the kitchen, and the toilet right next to it, you even have a window overlooking the courtyard" she said like it was some grand feature. It was probably the worst view in the past, but over the years changing architecture and revitalization made it much better.

"I'm going to lie down and recover a bit. You can put your backpack into the wardrobe" said Julia and left Karolina alone to settle in. She did grab her own bag that she left there a night before.

Karolina remade her bed, hanged her clothes in the wardrobe, and closed her eyes.

She was very grateful to Julia for letting her stay here, even though the room was a joke. It didn't even have a door! Windows didn't have drapes, and she'd have to learn in the kitchen. Still. She got to live here for free - at least for half a year, and avoid going back to her small town, back to her overbearing parents.

Julia did demand services in return, and thinking about what services she'll have to perform. Karolina changed her side and drifted into sleep...
