"That was quite well done." I noted, spreading my arms in a peaceful gesture. A sour note rung in the air as his eyes caught my form in the dawn's shadows. I saw his fingers tighten on the neck of his instrument and his feet shift. "May the sun shine on the hour of our meeting."

He blinked and his fingers loosened. "Nice try. But I'm not from Nichiren. I understand the confusion, thought. My people and theirs have a similar look."

"Then, would you accept greetings under the Banner of the Dragonslayer?"

"A Norindeller? This far south?" He set the lute aside. He looked me up and down. "A demon from Norindel, no less. You must have quite the story to tell."

"Not so much. In the future maybe."

"Well, then. Can you give me a reason why I shouldn't kill you?" Khadass smiled. "No, let me guess. You'll offer me wealth and power, right?"

"Absolutely." I returned his smile. "I can also offer you sex, and a place in the legend to be woven."

"Flattered, but I prefer humans. Less likely to bite your head off after the deed." Khadass tilted his head, showing a scar on the side of his neck.

"That's fine, I prefer women." I folded my fingers, projecting confidence. "And that's what I'm offering. As an incubus, I could offer you any woman you desire, without restriction. You want a monster, I can give that to you. You want a noblewoman, that I can do. You want a harem of adoring slaves, women of a thousand shades from their first flowing to their last? I can give you that."

"And you expect that tripe to work. Offer it Craimer, he might take you up on it." Khadass smirked. "I prefer the chase, you see."

"I can give you that too." I showed teeth. "I can give you a thousand variations on the same chase, giving you a chance to try a different approach with the same woman. I can give you any circumstances to hunt in, I can give you the opportunity to forcibly take a bitch and then romance her the next day without a worry. Don't underestimate the power of an Incubus."

Khadass considered that, and then he grabbed his lute. "Get out of here. I'm contracted to serve the master of the house. But, my shift doesn't start for two hours. A lot can change in two hours."

"That's true." I turned around, and then looked over my shoulder. "Next time you see one of your 'lady loves' try saying 'Pillory and catchpole'. Might be an amusing way to spend a couple hours."
