The low chatter of conversation and the drifting sound of a nearby piano floated across the restaurant, the lunchtime atmosphere as close and intimate as the daytime view of the city below was impressive.

Her date – James Jones – was a young man in his mid 20's, a prospective teacher at the school that Rachael had been asked to evaluate after a some thorough background checks and a very promising telephone interview. He had just finished a message to his ex-girlfriend when he heard the door open, and quickly tucked his phone away as he stood to meet the new arrival.
