Another try

A few days later Chloe came out of the bedroom in her gym clothes and sports bag over her shoulder. “Are you going for a workout?” asked Sean looking up from his tablet on the sofa.

“Yes, do you want to come?” she asked as she grabbed her trainers and started putting them on.

“I’m good, I ran this morning.”

“Well, I still have a couple of guest passes if you fancy it.”

“We’ll see, I’m happy with just running honestly,” he said with a smile.

“I figured as much. I like the variety and the atmosphere.”

“Didn’t you go yesterday? Not like you to go two days in a row,” he asked.

Chloe shrugged. “With all this talk of attracting other guys, it’s made me want to focus on my figure more.”

Chloe stood up and Sean stood to see her out. “You know you already have an amazing body,” he said, coming in for a kiss.

“You have to say that, you are my husband,” she said, wrapping her arms around him and returning his affection.

“True but I’m not lying.”

“I know I look good but I want to look deadly. Anyway, don’t complain. I may be doing it to make myself attractive to others but you reap the rewards as well,” she said as she pulled away and went to grab her jacket.

Sean chuckled. “Okay, I can’t argue with that. Just as long as you know you don’t need to but if you want to I’m not going to stop you.”

She patted his face sweetly and smiled at him. “I was going to have a look at the classes they do. I get them as part of my membership but I’ve never done any. I was thinking that if this little game of yours doesn’t pan out, then I am in a good position to meet new people.”

“To have sex with?” Sean asked with a raised eyebrow.

“That was the idea. I’ll see you later.” She gave him a peck on the cheek and headed out.

Sean watched her pert little bottom head off down the corridor and he really couldn’t see how she could be any hotter.

All was calm until the next Friday night, after-work drinks. This time he was just going to go and Chloe was just going to join him. No pretexts or schemes, she was just going to join him for drinks.

She turned up looking cute but casual in a pair of leggings and a long jumper. They spent the evening together and Sean tried as much as possible to find opportunities for Chloe to talk with several of the men in the office. The only person she spent any great time talking with was Kathy. He might have been excited by the idea if he thought that Chloe might be having an affair with Kathy but it really didn’t look like it. A few drinks later and people had started heading home so they gave up and returned themselves.

Chloe kicked off her shoes while Sean got out the takeaway dinner they had picked up on their way back. “I’m sorry it didn’t work out baby. Do you think we should keep trying or give up?” she asked

“Maybe we should just give up,” said Sean. “It was a convoluted idea. Did none of them come on to you at all?”

“Some definitely were chatting me up. It’s just, they were kind of arseholes. I couldn’t bring myself to follow through with any of them.”

“I get that. I have to work with them,” he joked.

“That was kind of the point though wasn’t it? Wanting your lovely wife to be defiled by some guy you don’t like?” she said with a saucy look.

“Huh, you really do know me. Still, it makes me cringe when you say it out loud.”

“Sorry baby. At least I got a new friend out of it.”

Sean grimaced. “Yes but it’s Kathy.”

“Aww, don’t be like that. I think she’s fun. I can totally see why she annoys you though but you aren’t the most tolerant person when it comes to peoples flaws.”

“I just find her tiring,” Sean sighed.

“Well, I’ll make sure I don’t subject you to her. I’ll not invite her over if you are here.”

“Than you. Can you also try not to talk about me too much? She will be unbearable if she wants to gossip with me.”

Chloe laughed. “That is something I can’t promise.”

Sean groaned and took solace in his dinner.
