Ask At The Main Desk

Ruby was still fuming as she followed behind me, making our way to the main desk. The man behind the desk had also changed, he was wearing the right suit, but clearly he was built more like a greek sculpture than the scrawny bearded guy who normally worked here.

''Hello, ladies, how can I help you?'' HIs voice was deep and smooth, more like that of the presenter for one of the casinos jazz bands than a receptionist

''Hi, uh, I was wondering if you could help me find someone?'' I asked

He seemed to get misunderstand my intent as he straightened up, adjusting the collar of his suit jacket and giving me a smile. ''Well, I'm sure i can check my schedule and...''

''Oh, no, that's not what I meant, I.. uhh. One of the maids here, her name is Kristen, we're looking for her'' As I spoke, the smile wiped from his face

''Right, sorry. Can I ask why you're looking for her?'' He was looking down at the computer now, only glancing back up to me before breaking eye contact again.

''Well she...'' I was drawing a blank as I tried to think of a better response than telling him that I was with her in a creepy mansion and wanted to check if she was okay

Ruby stepped up beside me, leaning over the counter in a way to show plenty of cleavage to the guy behind it. ''Sorry about my friend, she's... not into guys. Kristen is actually her girlfriend, she was hoping to surprise her. So if you can just tell her where she is, then maybe you can check your schedule for me''

''Does, umm, what is Kristens last name?'' He said, pulling himself away from making eyes at Ruby for a moment to turn to me and ask the question.

''Her last name is...'' I was struggling to remember, I knew it had appeared when selecting her as a target on the app, but at this point I couldn't remember what it was

''Kristen Chastain, sorry, my friend here can be pretty arkward at times'' Ruby gave me a smug look as she spoke.

The man behind the counter typed away at his computer for a moment before looking up. ''I think you've made some kind of mistake Kristen is on here as being scheduled to appear in the performance hall in a few hours, you said she worked here as a maid?''

''Uhh... Sometimes she does. Thanks for your help, we'll be going now'' I grabbed Ruby by the elbow and pulled her along behind me as we exited toward the casinos main hall. Looking back I could see the receptionist slump his shoulders as a man approached the main desk and he greeted him with a fake smile.

''Oh come on, that guy was totally packing under that suit, did you see how tight it was at the arms, guy is probably hung like a horse'' Ruby complained as I dragged her along
