Which way to go?

Downstream.

Chapter 7 by GreenWanting GreenWanting

You remember what Kashi had said about overseeing a dungeon and figure the cave would probably only play to her strengths. You jump into the water and try to make your way downstream as quickly as possible.

The river gains depth and speed as you half swim, half get carried along the current.

The forest flows past you, you thank the psychopomp for your boon as you crash into some rapids. The rocks would certainly have beat you into a pulp instead of you bouncing off them with twinges of pain. You feel almost like a bouncing ball as you ricochet off jagged stones, while dragged by the now surging water.

You spin in the frothing river, unable to make sense of up or down. Eventually, you surface some ways downstream, the forest less dense with intermingling canopy and more bright green. It looks more like a fairytale forest and less murdery or dark. You look up past the trees and can see the giant... what did she call it? The Great Mother Tree? Well, there it is, it looks like it is a few miles away now, which makes you wonder just how far down the river you have gone.

It's early morning, judging by the sun, and you look around.

There's some vibrantly colored flowers on the far embankment, the river seems to flow more gently from here on out, and there is something in the distance, beyond the tree line, vaguely resembles a cottage, you think.
