Chapter 26 by Mr Nice Guy Mr Nice Guy

Juices

As Vanessa Beardy stared at the young man her daughter had brought into her dining room, her heart dropped. This man, this unreasonably attractive man with her daughter? She remembered being a teenager and falling for Nancy's father, a young man in his twenties she had met at a party. He did what so many men did in those days, fucked her and left. Three dates was all it had taken for Vanessa to throw her legs wide open for the asshole. A guy like Nancy had brought in? She would have done it in one.

How had Nancy found a guy like that, anyway? Nancy was a lovely girl, but this man was something else. Staring at him, she could feel herself heat up below, something she hadn't felt since watching that Chris Helmsworth movie on Netflix. Wearing a sundress, wedge heels, and his face beautifully made up, Vanessa acknowledged that he was no Helmsworth. He was better. He was a Helmsworth if a Helmsworth had better style.

Then she heard the words.

"I have something I have to tell you."

Her fork dropped from her hand before she realized that she had done it. Her worst fears had come true, that Nancy would follow in her footsteps, that she would become a mother far too early, that her future would be dictated by a moment of passion in a young person's life. As soon as Nancy had walked in with her dreamboat, she had already suspected. Why else would she be bringing a strange man into her house? Why else would she have such a guilty look on her face?

But she was wrong. She’s never been so happy to be wrong. Who cared about her car? Well, Vanessa didn’t NOT care about her car being wrecked, but in context, things were going to be okay. Her daughter was still going to have a bright future!

And so Nancy had introduced her new boyfriend. She wondered for a moment how long this one would stick around. It must have been difficult for boys dating her Nancy. With their girlfriend utterly without jealousy, why would they ever stay faithful? Vanessa had watched the prospects come and go, always tempted away by other women, and while Nancy would be heartbroken when they left her, she just could not understand that she needed to fight to keep a boyfriend, that a little jealousy was a tool that you could use for good.

What Nancy needed, Vanessa had decided that summer as she watched the boyfriend before Gary wander off with a chesty redhead, was someone she could share a boy with, someone who would fight for the two of them. It wasn’t ideal, but she just couldn’t see another way around it. She wanted her daughter to be happy, but Nancy would continue to be a doormat until someone stood up for her and kept her man from sniffing around.

But that was a far fetched fantasy. Relationships like that didn’t really exist, did they? Vanessa had heard of some people living in complicated relationships, but those things only happened in the big cities, right? It was too bad, really. A man like this Tim fellow could really get a woman’s juices flowing. He sure had for her.
