The Giant Mushroom

Izuku walked into the Flood Zone, a Kaiju-sized blue mushroom at the top of the mountain, with a bunch of little mushrooms all over the ground. Yep. Kinoko is definitely here.

"Greeting, traveler." Izuku turned around to see the three girls, Ibara being the one to welcome him, but none of them were in their hero costumes. Kinko and Ibara dressed up as farmers. Both had plaid shirts, but Ibara had a skirt while Kinoko has tight blue jeans. Yui, on the other hand, was dressed up as a milkmaid. "Our makeshift farm doesn't receive many visitors these days, let alone from Pro Heroes."

Oh... I get it. They're civilians with potent quirks. That's... actually realistic.

Kinoko walked up to him. "Ever since someone with a Mushroom quirk destroyed this place, we've been using the spores to turn this place into a mushroom farm!"

"Sadly," Yui said as she picked up a blue mushroom from the ground, "These are all we can grow until the spores clear up."

"But we'll happily gather some for you to regain your strength!" Kinoko was suddenly holding an arms worth of them. "They're perfectly safe to eat!" Kinoko started munching on one as Yui and Ibara took one as well.

"While these are indeed safe," Ibara said as she began to nibble, "they aren't quite milk and honey, I'm afraid."

"Huh?" Izuku thought she was referring to the taste.

"They don't sell well enough, and we can't make a living off them," Yui said quietly as she ate hers.

Izuku looked over to the mountain as he ate one himself, with his stomach reeling in from the unimpressive lunch they had. "So, would just destroying that big mushroom work?"

"It can't be destroyed," Kinoko said darkly. "And who would want to?"

"You'd have to destroy it by the roots," Yui said quietly as she finished munching on her mushroom.

Mmm... I think I get it. Izuku thought to himself. I need to direct civilians to fix a problem. "Okay, I need to know your quirks, but I think I can help you."

He picks up fast, Yui thought, happy Izuku understood the point of the exercise. "I can shrink anything that isn't a human or animal." Ibara simply moved her vines to show her quirk, while Kinoko created a bunch of mushrooms on her head.

"Okay, so here's the game plan. I'll jump each of you up there, and then Ibara will use her vines to uproot it. Then Yui shrinks it, and Kinoko will dispose of it. Can you three handle this?" All three nodded. Izuku first grabbed Kinoko (who he had to pry off when he got up there), then Yui and finally Ibara, who immediately went digging and learned the roots were on the other side; Ibara and Yui decided to head to the other side while Kinoko bent over. "Hey Kinoko, whatcha doing?"

"Oh, making counter mushrooms," She said as she made red versions of the big mushroom on the ground. "They can wither and kill this kind of Mushroom. I'd just use it on this if it wasn't so big since it doesn't damage the soil or whatever it's attached to."

"Wait, so it can be planted in anything?"

"Yep!" Izuku saw a star in her eyes as she got real giddy. "This is a special mushroom of my own creation, and combines parasitic mushrooms with safe to eat ones, allowing it to grow everywhere!"

Izuku was starting to like Kinoko, and she was probably the only person who could make the subject of mushrooms interesting, and being able to basically grow a type of food in any location sounds nifty. However, he was quickly overtaken with a mind-crushing headache. Concerned that it was a villain attack, he noticed that Kinoko had also fallen on the floor. "K-Kinoko! You okay?!"

At first, there wasn't an answer, but Kinoko soon rose up with a blank expression on her face. "I feel fine." Izuku then noticed a blue mushroom sticking out of her head. "Are you okay?" She asked in an almost monotone voice. "You look... incomplete." He had a really bad feeling she was expecting him to grow a mushroom as well. "Here, let me help you with that."
