Chapter 86

What's next?

Alexa's Appointments, Moving Out, and Final Night

"You're kidding right? I've come to this clinic my entire life. I don't need a pediatrician. I'm an adult." Alexa said with a huff to the front desk clerk. The older woman looked annoyed. Carol stepped in.

"Alexa, what's your doctors name?" She asked, not wanting to have a whole fight in a crowded room of people. Alexa told it to the woman, who's eyes lit up, and soon enough, both women were back in the Doctor's office, Alexa getting to get her physical. Her doctor, a familiar character to Alexa, was a bit surprised at Carol coming into the room, but did not say anything.

After getting her height, weight, and general readings, the doctor asked if Alexa had been having any other problems.

"Nope." Alexa said with a smile.

"Lex. Sorry, but Doctor, she's been having problems with potty training. It's not my place, I know, but since I'm the one changing the diapers...." Carol said with a grimace. Alexa gasped. That had been a secret!

The Doctor sighed, and discussed the medical information of incontinence with Alexa, writing her a script for some medications. "Listen, Miss Johnson, it might seem embarrassing. But this medical condition is no joke. Please, try to focus on regaining control over your bodily functions. Furthermore, I do think it be best if you went to a dentist, and eye doctor before you left. You still need dental and visual records done."

Alexa waited until they were in the car to say anything. "Carol! Why'd you have to say anything?"

"Lex. Come on. He gave you medication and a clean bill of health. I was doing it for your best interests." Carol said, looking Alexa in the face, and convincing her.

Carol sat in the dentists office. Alexa had gone in over a hour ago. More then a hour ago, at that. Where was that girl? Hopefully not up to one of her usual misadventures...

Finally, Alexa stumbled out from the office, looking quite horrified. She didn't say a word to Carol until they got into the car.

"Carol. They said I needed braces." Alexa said with horror.

"Oh, that's not all that bad Lex, I had braces." Carol said, showing off her teeth to Alexa. Alexa shook her head, and smiled back at Carol. Her teeth now were emblazoned with a rainbow assortment of braces, looking quite childish. Carol was surprised.

"The-they put them on?" Carol asked?

"Yes!" Alexa said with a pout. They felt odd in her mouth, and she ran her tongue over them, not wanting to talk about it. Still, Carol deserved an explanation. "They said since I was going overseas, I had to get it done here, and that they could do it."

"Awh, Alexa, they look cute. It's fine hun...."

"How bad is my vision!?!?!" Alexa said with shock.

"Miss Johnson, it's a common occurrence, especially with your vision. You most likely haven't noticed, especially with your contacts in, because it has been easy to get used to." The doctor said.

"I....alright." Alexa. Her tongue ran over the braces. "Can i purchase some contacts?"

"Certainly. 2-3 weeks for arrival. For now, your insurance covers two pairs of glasses, which we can actually make on the spot." The doctor said.

Alexa tried her best to choose the least nerdy version, but ended up with two sets of what still felt like coke bottle glasses; they weren't, but still...

Carol didn't comment on the glasses.

"Pleasure doing business with you." Alexa said, shaking the man's hand, happy to have everything done with her.

"Same with you." The man said, taking the keys, and driving off.

"Whew. Glad that's done." Alexa said with a sigh, going to get lunch with Carol afterwards. Two things done. Now to go settle her documents.

"So, anything else I need?" Alexa asked the every helpful government bureaucrat. He smiled.

"Just a picture of your cute face." The middle-aged gentlemen said. "Mom, could you help her with the photo, kids usually are squirmy."

"I'm....she's not my....!" Alexa said with a shout as carol walked up to the counter, explaining that Alexa was, in fact, an adult. The man checked her birthdate, sheepishly apologized, and herded Alexa to the seat. In her V-neck jumper, with a white blouse underneath it, Alexa felt quite mature; her bladder didn't help. The man had some difficulties with the camera, and had to take several photos. Don't use the bathroom, don't use the bathroom, don't use the bathroom.

Alexa, unluckier then most, smiled with her rainbow braces, squeezed her eyes shut, and filled the diaper to its limit as the picture was taken. The man said nothing, presenting the photo to her, but Alexa was well aware how her eyes squeezed shut, her cheeks exhaling in effort, and the slight bite all looked. Once again, she'd been photographed making a mess.

Carol knew the face, and Alexa did not protest as she was changed in the parking lot, looking at her phone. For once, Carol found it easy enough to think of Alexa as little more then a child, even if she wasn't.

"Right. Three shipments under your name Miss Johnson. Your clothes, furniture, and miscellaneous things." The foreman said.

Alexa nodded. By miscellaneous things, he was talking about boxes that hid some diapers and other junk. Alexa was happy moving had been so smooth. They left her apartment, and Alexa was done. She'd ended her lease, gotten all the paperwork, and her flight left early in the morning. Wonderful! The past two days had been hectic, so it was amazing to have everything done and wrapped up with.

She slept well with Carol that night.
