Quickly

As I stood there, considering the choice to venture down another dark stairway or search for Ruby in another part of the house, I heard movement behind me.

One of the dolls had reached the top of the stairs, stumbling around the mezzanine floor, seemingly trying to sniff me out again.

Not wanting to face them again, I stepped inside the door, looking for any way to close it. Finding a heavy chain hanging from the ceiling, I yanked down on it. Triggering the door into making another loud hiss and a creak.

I could see the doll snap to attention in my direction, moving to a low stance. Again, I could swear I heard a shrill scream as every bit of my body that was covered in the latex started pulsing adrenaline into my system.

As the doors closed further, I saw the redhead appear at the top of the main stairs

''Get her, now!''

The doll on the mezzanine jumped over the marble ballustrade, landing a few feet away from the door. The rest appeared behind the redhead as she started to run down the stairs, my view of them starting to be obscured by the closing doors.

A few meters before they reached the stairs, the doors slammed shut. I could only hope that they wouldn't make their way down behind me, despite the USB still being out there with them.

Body still buzzing with adrenaline, I started to make my way down the stairs.
