Chapter 2
by Forgiven
Introduction:
Along the river bend
"Have you checked your map to make sure that we're heading south? It feels like we've been going in circles." Mary asks as she steps over a large rock to prevent herself from tripping.
"Yeah, though I think the map is out of date. There are caves and rivers cropping up that simply aren't illustrated on this copy." Arthur replies.
Mary growns and runs her left hand through her red hair. She then looks down at her gown which has been torn in various places ever since their journey began. Taking both hands, she tears the bottom half of it off completely and relieves herself of the metal gown support as well. Tossing the heap to the side and letting out a sigh in relief.
Arthur takes note of this sudden change of events and smirks a little, "Told you that dresses weren't made for outdoor tasks." He reminds her with a rather smug grin.
"Hush you," Mary's cheeks flush red as she instinctively wraps her arms around herself, "I just thought that you wanted to see my assets without being impeded by so many layers of clothing." She replies as a defense.
As the pair are talking, they come across a fork in the road. To the left, they may be able to follow the river still. With luck, it might mean they can find civilization faster. But, lose out on finding unexpected treasures. And on the right, the river streams out into a long and complex cave system. Goblins are said to inhabit those caves and they are known for hoarding treasures and various other goods. Trade is a possibility, provided Arthur and Mary aren't seen as intruders.
Left or right?
