They attempt to spy on them

"I don't know. I don't know. I just don't want to get caught off guard and end up getting stripped by them," Isabel said fearfully. " I would have been naked in front of Steve and that volleyball audience if it weren't for you. Thank you for saving me.

" Carina would have gotten me naked in front of Jason and everyone at that party if you hadn't stepped in just in time," Maria reminded. "We saved each other, bestie."

" I don't want us to end up like poor Rosa," Isabel said worryingly.

"Me neither, Izzy. Me neither," Maria replied equally worried.

Both of the girls hugged each other closer in an attempt to comfort each other and themselves. While they were doing that, they were looked at Kaley and Carina. They were still in the spot where originally found them. Thankfully this public pool was really huge, and they were positioned far enough away from them. It didn't look like Kaley and Carina noticed, which might have to do with the pool size and the large number of people here. Or maybe they just weren't paying attention. Kaley was wearing a yellow string-tied bikini with blue flowers, while Carina was wearing a red string-tied bikini with white polka dots. They were wearing sunglasses and laying on tanning beds, which were next to a curtained cabana and a few oversized umbrellas. The two of them were turned towards each other and talking, while they applied tanning lotion.

Suddenly an idea popped up in Maria's head. She turned her head towards Isabel and said " Hey, I got an idea."

"What is it?" Isabel asked as she let go of Maria who did the same.

"Let's go and spy them. See what they are up to." Maria replied.

Isabel looked at Maria as if she were absurd and said " Are you crazy? You do realize that would involve us getting close enough to hear them? They might see us."

"No, they wouldn't. There are a lot of people here and stuff we can hide behind," Maria explained. " If we sneak behind stuff and maintain a low profile, we can get close enough to hear what they are saying and planning to do."

"Are you sure about this?" Isabel asked skeptically.

"Not fully, but we have to do this. We have been fearing them for two years. We need to know if they are even still a threat," Maria explained. " If we eavesdrop on them, we can find out if they still want to humiliate us or not. Maybe they are over it. Maybe they even want to be friends with us. But we need to know."

Isabel did have to admit to herself that being friends with Kaley and Carina would be nice. The four of them had bad blood, but it would be nice to see to start over on the right foot. Wishful thinking, but still. Isabel realized that Maria was right. They need to know they are still a threat or not.

" Alright, Let's do it," Isabel said as she got up from the tanning bed.

" Let's go," Maria replied and got up from the tanning bed as well.

"Wait. Follow me" Isabel said before pulling Maria towards a cabana that was right near them. Once they got inside, Isabel pulled the curtains shut to give them privacy.

"Let's test our bikinis and make sure they are secure," Isabel suggested. "We don't them falling off by accident or pull off by someone so easily."

Maria nodded in agreement. Neither wanted a repeat of last summer, when they went to the beach, and an undercurrent pulled their bikinis off, leaving them naked in the water. Luckily they managed to make it back to their towels without anyone noticing. They tucked on their bikinis to see if anything was loose. Their string got loosened, but nothing fell off. They retied their strings tighter this time. When they were satisfied, they exited the cabana.

"Here we go," Isabel said.

"Remember, I got your back," Maria said.

The two friends partially crouched and started to sneak their way over towards Kaley and Carina. They would hide behind tanning beds, umbrellas, and cabanas and try to blend with groups of people. Anything to maintain a low profile and avoid their enemies' notice. They soon manage to it halfway to their destination.
