Antoine takes you into the bar

You enter a larger room. There’s a central bar and lots of people milling around. You see that most of the men are black and most of the women white. There’s about five men to every woman.

There are two displays over the bar showing numbers, one blue and one red. As you watch you see the blue number ticks up a digit and then another.

Antoine nudges you. “It’s at 347. Your number is 425. When it gets to your number head for that door.” He points at a blue door to the left of the bar. “I’d estimate about 20 minutes.”

You watch as he turns to the girls. “You watch that number.” He points to a red number. It seems stuck on 25, then bumps to 26. “When it gets to your number head through that door.” He points at a red door. “You are 34 and 35. I’d estimate about an hour. You can go through together when the first number comes up if you want.”

He turns back to you. “I’ll catch you when you come out and see how you’ve got on. For now grab a drink at the bar and hang out.”

With that he leaves you and heads through the blue door.

Jane turns to you and Carrie. “I think we should get a drink. Follow me.”

You get cocktails at the bar and people watch. It’s a mixed crowd of ages and shapes. Most men are casually dressed, in sweatpants and t-shirts. The women are wearing short skirts and look a little slutty.

You’re keeping an eye on the display watching it tick up to 400 and then 410.

Carrie pokes you. “You ok? It’s getting close to your number.”

“Sure. I think. I’ve no idea what’s through that door.”

“You’ll be fine,” says Carrie squeezing your arm.

You put your drink down. It’s at 420 and you’re now just watching it, waiting for it to hit 425. When it does you head for the door, Carrie patting your ass as you leave.

“Go get em tiger,” she says.

You hand over your ticket and go through the door.
