A couple of kids.

Lisa leaned against the fencing of the stall, her right hand resting on her colt, and looked in. What she found surprised her. In the stall were a boy and girl. Lisa estimated that they were maybe 15 or 16 years old.

Lisa cleared her throat. Both kids jumped. The boy stood and swung a rusty revolver to point at Lisa. Figuring the weapon was more of a threat to its user than her, she calmly raised her hands and stepped back.

Lisa, keeping her hands up, walked backwards til she was by her horse. The 2 kids left the stall, the boy's revolver pointing at Lisa the whole time.

"You got the $100 on ya?" the boy asked.

"Shirt breast pocket." Lisa answered.

"Beth, go get her money." the boy instructed the girl.

"No Billy." Beth refused. "I won't take her money at gunpoint. We ain't gonna become like the Black Lynchers."

Beth then stepped between Billy and Lisa and walked towards her. Beth then extended a hand to Lisa.

"I'm Beth Connors." said Beth. "thats my brother Billy."

"Lisa Bennet." Lisa said taking the offered hand and shaking it.

Behind Beth, Billy lowered his weapon, and tucked it into the waistband of his pants. Lisa lowered her left hand and pulled out her money. She counted out $100 worth of bills and handed them over to Beth.

Lisa pocketed her remaining money and removed her saddlebags, bed roll and a small valise from her horse and put them on the ground as Beth and Billy led the other horses to stalls and removed the saddles and bridles.

Beth then came up to Lisa's horse to take her into another stall while Lisa collected her recently aquired winchester. Seeing this Billy struggled to pull his revolver from his pants.

"If I wanted you dead you, would be." Lisa told Billy.

He stopped trying to get his revolver free of his pants and looked at Lisa. Beth led Lisa's horse into a stall and removed the saddle and bridle.

"So, you want to fill me in on whats going on in this town?" Lisa asked.

Billy shared a nervous look with Beth and then looked at Lisa.
