“So, one of us has to wear the shirt to get home, and come back with clothes for whoever doesn’t get it.”
Sara nodded slowly, “yeah, that’s really our only option. We can’t just bail on each other. But who gets it?”
Christina started thinking, trying to think of who might have more complications getting home.
“I think it has to be me,” Sara said. “I live closer.”
“Yeah, but your family might be home by now. They’ll notice you’re only wearing a shirt. Mine might still be at work.”
“Pretty sure I can time it so I get past them without being seen. I can look in through the window and make sure everything is clear. Plus my hips are a hair thinner, I’ll get maybe another inch of coverage.”
After considering their options, Christina knew she was right. The fact that Sara lived a little closer made the strongest difference. Christina wanted to get dressed as soon as possible but this seemed like the best means to that end.
“Okay, you go.”
Sara immediately started pulling the shirt over her head and sticking her arms through the sleeves. “I’ll be back as soon as I can, I promise! I’ll bring you some clothes and a pair of my sandals, alright?”
“Yeah.”
“Where are you going to hide?”
“In one of these bathroom stalls.”
“Really? Sooner or later someone will come in here. There are after-school clubs and stuff for at least another hour.”
“I can lock the stall and just stay in there if anyone comes by.”
“I really don’t think that’s a good idea, they’ll see your feet and think something is up. If you pull your feet up they’ll wonder why the stall is locked with no one in there.”
“Well where would you hide?”
“Honestly, the best hiding spot is behind the dumpsters outside of the cafeteria.”
“What? But that’s outside!”
“I know, but listen! Its right next to the school and both of the dumpsters are in a walled off area attached to the building. You can stay behind the dumpsters, and if anyone comes from any direction the wall will still block you. The cafeteria crew has thrown out their trash and left for the day and the janitors shouldn’t be out in the area for at least an hour or two.”
“God, I don’t know if that’s really a good idea.”
“It’s what I would do. Getting there would be scary but it’s really well hidden and not that far away. Plus the parking lot is on the back side of the school so not many people would walk back there.”
Christina’s mind raced, partly weighing her options but also in fear. She’d never been naked in a situation like this before and absolutely never entertained the idea of being outside like that. She knew it would be a good hiding space, but still felt the bathroom could work with a little luck.
