Kasumi and Izuku (vote chapter)

Izuku’s date was over and the three had kissed their goodbyes and separated with Izuku heading back to the dorms while the girls went their own ways. When he arrived he found them surprisingly empty. With the exception of Ren's sister Kasumi who seemed to be cooking something.

“Where is everyone?” Izuku asked.

“There was a assembly for all the girls and Ren had modelling work. She sent me here in case you wanted some service.” She said with a small grin on her face. Eager to have Izuku all to herself.

But Izuku’s curiosity was peaked by this moment of privacy between the two, and decided to ask a few questions.

“Excuse me Kasumi can I ask you a few questions?” Izuku asked.

“You can ask me anything Izuku.” She answered with a smile.

“What was Ren like as a child?”

The innocent question was enough to bring the smile off of Kasumi’s face, and caused her to become silent.

“You don’t have to say anything.” Izuku assured her but she shook her head.

“Truthfully she wasn’t a pleasant girl growing up. She seemed distant, and always met others with suspicion. She was always alone, buried in her romance books or spending time with… Dad.” She explained, muttering the last part as quietly as possible.

“Ren was into romance novels?”

“Oh absolutely. She loved tales of knights in shining armour and noble deeds of courage. She would stay spend entire nights reading about them, fantasising about her ideal hero. The cheesier the better.”

“You’re kidding me.” Izuku laughed.

“No I’m not. She used to write her own fanfictions about a hero sweeping her off her feet and her pledging herself to him.” She laughed taking a seat next to Izuku, “though come to think of it those may have been why her standards became so high.”

“Huh?”

“Ren never saw anyone as a good person, she said her quirk always saw their true selves but I think her standards were just too high.” She sighed, before a happy smiled came to her, “or that’s what I did think. Until we met you, and you fulfilled every one of our fantasies.”

Izuku blushed, brushing the back of his head with an embarrassed smile, “you’re giving me too much credit.”

There was a comfortable silence for a few moments before Izuku had another question, “so what was it like living with Ren?”

“Hard.” Kasumi answered, “Ren was always my father’s favourite. She had the best quirk, was naturally beautiful and was a genius without any effort. Chi just spent all her time in her room studying and working, also a genius. I guess I felt overshadowed.”

“I know what that’s like.” Izuku admitted.

“You do?”

“When I was a kid I was quirkless. I wanted to be a hero so badly yet everyone in my class would be more qualified simply because of how they were born. I know what it’s like to be overshadowed.” Izuku explained, and Kasumi could sense his sincerity and a bitter sadness of his childhood.

It was something Kasumi could relate to, even without her sister’s mind control. In fact somehow she could sense that had she known this she would not have needed her sister’s influence to love him. She wondered in another world where she had met Izuku first she and not Ren had become his beloved.

How different things might be.
