John meets his new family

John felt nostalgic walking around in his childhood home. This is where he grew up but a lot of things had changed in the last six years. His mom and dad were both gone. He had two younger half-siblings that he had never met before. He felt like a stranger in his own family home.

Kimberly had changed a lot too. John remembered having a crush on her when they were classmates. Back then they were just high schoolers. Now Kimberly was a grown woman and the mother of two kids. She was also his dad's widow. But John still found her hotter than any girl he met in college or any of the women in his office as the years had only made her more attractive.

John guiltily remembered the risqué photos his dad used to post of her. He wondered if she still had the cheerleader outfit and lace lingerie or if she had gotten rid of those after his dad died.

"Cody. Holly. This is John. Your big brother." Kimberly introduced him to her kids. His half-brother and half-sister.

His half brother Cody looked like a kid version of his father but with Kimberly's eyes. John had seen his photos before but this is the first time they met in person. He felt a little icky realizing that this kid was the result of his dad having unprotected sex with Kimberly.

Cody however was very excited to meet his big brother. He showed John around the house and asked to play Mario Kart with him before dinner. John agreed because he wanted to connect with his younger brother and sister.

His half sister Holly took longer to warm up to him. She was very close to their dad and was still broken up about not having him around anymore. John consoled her and told her that everything will be okay. He felt nostalgic when he noticed how much Holly looked like a young Kimberly.

John felt very awkward when he had dinner with his new family. He sat in his dad's chair like he was the man of the house now.

John knew that his dad left very little money for Kimberly and the kids as he burned through most of his savings in the last six years taking his young wife on expensive vacations and renovating the house. The medical bills and funeral costs also didn't make things any easier.

Kimberly had spent the last six years as a stay-at-home mom. She never went to college or started a career. It will be very hard for her to support Cody and Holly alone. John wondered if he should pitch in some money to help her raise the kids. He finished college and has a very good job so it should be easy for him to financially support his half-siblings.

Kimberly was a bit awkward around him as well but she still made small talk and asked him about his life over the last six years. John told her about college and other stuff. Both of them were careful to avoid the topic of her relationship with his dad.

John remembered working on a chemistry project with Kimberly back in high school and having a bit of crush on her. He thought about how different the past couple years might have been if he had asked her out back then but that was a pointless thought now.

"Cody and Holly sleep in your old bedroom now. Is it alright if you spend the night in the guestroom?"

"Sure. No problem." John agreed but he again felt like a stranger in his own home. Kimberly tucked in the kids in his old bedroom. She then went to sleep in what used to be his parents bedroom where she had slept with his dad for six years.

John couldn't sleep so he decided to explore the house. His dad renovated the place when he was gone and it looked both different and familiar. Just like how Kimberly was both his former classmate and his widowed stepmother. John was having a hard time reconciling the past and the present.
