Awake at dusk

You and Tri'lanna are huddled under that iron tub, listening to the demon army destroy your village and holding each other. Suddenly, horrendous roars blot out all other sounds of the battle, then guttural screams follow. Under the rim of the iron tub, you see flashes of light. You hold each other closer for a long time, hoping that whatever is happening out there, they ignore you. As quickly as the roaring started, it stops.

You and the elf wait a long time before lifting the tub. In the darkness, some light is shining through the wooden barn. You step out into the village to see a scene straight from your worst nightmare. The village is in flames. Many bodies, human and demon, are scattered everywhere. All are dead, many with large pieces missing. Many are burnt beyond recognition of even what species they were.

The sky opens up and a thunderstorm starts. You and Tri'lanna run back to the barn as the only building still standing, but as you approach, it bursts into flames and crumbles to the ground. The two of you run into the woods, trying to find shelter.

You wake up to a crack of thunder and rain in the face. Tri'lanna wakes up at the same time. You look around and see what might be another small cave about 200 strides away. You head in that direction as quickly as the footing allows, which is not very fast. By the time you get there, you both are soaked to the skin.
