A talk and rest

(Sorry for the wait, the New Titans story is still ongoing, but I am working on other stories and getting art for each of them, including this one. Thanks for reading)

You walk sluggishly into the main hall, your arms and legs ache from your abusive training, you see the girls sitting on opposite ends of the sofa, clearly pissed off with each other. But each was biting their tongues.

You sit down in the centre, not bothering to ask why they were angry, but as soon as you relax, they both move to either side of you.

Jinx purrs at you as she nestles into your arm. Raven gives Jinx a warning look before she hops in your lap. You look over at Jinx, who has a perplexed look on her face as if she was shocked by Raven's boldness. "What are you doing, bird brain?" she asks, staring daggers at Raven.

"What?" she asks without even looking at her. Jinx, however, doesn't like this and squeezes herself onto your lap as well, pushing Raven to the side.

"I was here first," Jinx says, grabbing one of your arms and pulling it towards her. "I've known him longer", Raven shouts back, holding your other arm.

Them fighting was one thing. Them fighting while on top of you was another. You couldn't be bothered to yell, so you reached out, grabbing both of them with each hand and pulling both into your chest, hugging each of them equally, so they don't argue. And it seemed to work. They went silent in your arms, you felt Jinx lean into your chest, Raven shifted awkwardly for a moment, but she also laid into you.

"So, what are we watching?" you ask sarcastically looking up at the smashed TV before lowering your head onto the back of the sofa.

"Nothing, we needed to talk, remember?" Raven says, looking up at you, her bright purple eyes shining. "Okay, but no fighting."

"The bank was set up. They were hoping we would turn up. The beam that hit me was some sort of energy drain. It took some of my magic."

"What for?" you ask, concerned and now entirely focusing on the conversation.

"I don't know, but whatever it is, it can't be good."

"Now that brings us to the other issue, what to do about 'her'."

"I'm right here, you know," Jinx said, annoyed.

"Fine, what are you gonna do? You can't stay here forever." Raven did have a point the team would come back eventually, and Jinx couldn't hide forever.

"Once we deal with these bastards, I'll be more than happy to leave your ugly sight, but until then, I think I'll stick around." These girls just kept adding fuel to the fire, baiting each other to try something.

"The way they fought as well, they didn't want to take us alive," you say, getting their attention. "It was in their movements. They wanted me dead."

Both the girls looked surprised by the seriousness of your voice. You felt a shiver run up your back as you remember their movements. Their limbs moving to strike at your head and heart, the uncaring emotion at your broke their bones. "Rider", Raven said, snapping you out of your thoughts, "sorry", you said half-heartedly.

"Rider, when was the last time you got some sleep?" Raven said with more coldness in her voice than usual. You remain silent for a moment knowing full well she's got you by the balls.

I slept fine last night." you lie, and it seems Raven knows you are lying because her face turns into a frown. "So explain to me why you were up training at two in the morning?" For the first time in a while, Jinx remained silent and allowed Raven to talk. "Robin said you were stubborn. You need to rest, Rider."

"No, what I need to do is get back to training." you try to stand up, but both of the girls push you back onto the sofa." That wasn't a request." Raven said with fighting coldness. You felt a cold sweat drip down your back, "fine, I'll try and get some rest", you lie, thinking you could do some basic training alone in your room.

"Not happening", Raven suddenly says ", did you forget I can read your thoughts? Admittedly, yes, you did forget, "okay, so what? Are you gonna watch over me while I sleep?

Both girls look at each other in a non-aggressive way for the first time, and you feel a bit scared by this.

"Girls?" you ask nervously.

"This is ridiculous," you say to Raven as she cuddles up to your right side on the bed. "If you had just gone and rested as I asked, this wouldn't be happening."

"Speak for yourself," Jinx says, also cuddling on your left side, "I've been wanting to do this for a while now" Jinx purrs into your side. "Why are you here as well?" you ask, annoyed. "Because I can't trust you to get some sleep, and I don't trust her to be alone, so we compromised." Raven answers, "Ya, so you're stuck with me~," Jinx says, cuddling into you just as Raven does. You do your best to ignore the two girls clinging to your side like love-struck puppies and close your eyes to try to get some rest.

It's awkward at first. The extra heat is uncomfortable, as is Jinx's constant rubbing of your chest with her hand. Raven isn't much better either. She's nestled so closely to your neck that you feel a gentle breeze from her shallow breathing. Despite all that, however, it feels nice. Maybe it's the comfort of being with others, or perhaps it's that fact that they are willing to comfort you. Whatever this feeling is, you like it.

You pull both the girls closer onto your chest. They both mewed like kittens. You close your eyes now. For once, you weren't afraid of sleep.

Beast boy and Cyborg are happy playing video games on the sofa. You walk into the living room, feeling the warm sunlight on your skin. You feel like a massive weight has been lifted off your shoulders as you sit down next to the two titans who continue their game. "What's good, Rider?" Cyborg asks as you walk over to sit next to them, making sure to fist bump Cyborg, "the girls are fighting again," you say, relaxing back into the sofa. "Have to admit it's been a weird few weeks," Cyborg says, casually playing at the same time Beast Boy, however, was utterly absorbed in his game.

"What'd mean?" you ask, turning to look at him. "Dude, we come back from the convention, and not only do we see Jinx here, but she and Raven are both swooning over you. Not to mention you stopped a Bank job by yourself. Nice work. Honestly, I thought I was dreaming."

"Trust me, I didn't plan for it. Raven said she's always liked Jinx and me, well Jinx was like a stray cat. And as for the bank job Jinx saved my ass."

It's then you feel cold, freezing even. You turn your head and what you see sends you into shock.

"Ah, we've been looking for you 'Rider'" the blade slid from one end of Raven's throat to the other, and in an instant, she was on the floor, dead. "Time to come home."
