She's coated in a mysterious substance

Mackenzie anxiously stood there for a few moments longer, periodically trying and failing to open the shower door. After five minutes of absolutely nothing happening to her, however, her worry about her current predicament was beginning to wane ever so slightly. But then she heard it. A sharp hissing sound resonating from all around her. Small nozzles had extended from the wall in several places, and they were each spewing a strange orange-brown looking mist at her. The naked woman realized she was suddenly being surrounded by the airborne substance!

Mackenzie crouched down, trying to avoid it. But in the tiny shower that was impossible. The mist soon spread to every square inch of air in the shower. Mackenzie held her breath, hesitant to breathe the foreign substance in and not sure what to do. But then, after a full minute, the spraying stopped. The sound of an air vent turning on echoed through the confined space, and the mist was quickly sucked up and away through the ceiling somewhere. In just a few seconds, Mackenzie found the air around her clear again. She let out her held breath before happily taking several large gulps of air.

After her racing heart calmed down, Mackenzie looked down at her skin and noticed it looked different. It was darker than before! Not a lot darker, but certainly noticeable to her, given how pale most of her skin usually was. But that skin now had the appearance as if Mackenzie had applied a very thin layer of a spray on tan. Curious, she touched a finger to her forearm. It sent an odd tingle through Mackenzie's skin at the spot of contact, followed a few seconds later by a strange, dull sense of irritation.

Mackenzie's blood ran cold. That weird spray had done something to her skin. And now her entire body was covered in it! Of course the haunted house controllers hadn't guided her to a shower out of the kindness of their hearts. They'd guided her here so Mackenzie would clean her skin, allowing them to coat her in... whatever this stuff was!

The sound of something mechanical unlatching caught Mackenzie's attention, temporarily distracting her from her predicament's strange new development. And with utter joy, she saw the shower door gently glide open. Mackenzie quickly stepped out of it, relieved to no longer be trapped. She crouched down and opened the cabinet, not wanting to waste any more time in case other surprises were in store for her. The towel and clothes were still there, just as she had last seen them. Mackenzie hastily pulled them out, finally feeling like she'd regained a tiny bit of control in this terrifying house. But little did she realize, she was soon about to find out exactly what the substance coating her skin was designed to do.
