She’s stunned

“I don’t…” Tanya began, after a silence which seemed to Scott as though it would last forever, although now he wished that it had indeed done so, because now he was getting to hear Tanya reject him. Great, he hadn’t even been a proper student for one day and he’d already managed to make a giant ass out of himself and loose the girl that he loved. That just had to be some sort of record for losers.

“It’s okay, I understand,” Scott rushed to interject, “I’ll leave you alone and go ask Miss Campbell about a new tutor.”

“I won’t bother you again,” Scott felt like his heart was sinking down into his stomach as he began to rise out of the bed.

“Scott, wait!” Tanya more or less screamed out as she slapped her hand down onto his in an attempt to keep him from getting up.

“What?” Scott was positively dumbfounded as he placed his ass back on the bed.

“What I was trying to say is that I don’t know what to say,” Tanya began as she used her fingers to softly stroke the back of his hand, “life at this school hasn’t exactly left me prepared to deal with sweet, brave guys who give me a long explanation as to why they love me.”

“Uh… okay…” Scott cut in, not really understanding what he’d done to make himself seem brave.

“Look, if we’re going to do this, you have to realize that this is your first year and my last, and I don’t know an awful lot about long distance relationships, or any other kind of relationship for that matter either,” Tanya explained.

“What?” Scott asked again, though not even he really knew whether his question was motivated by the way in which Tanya was talking as though they might still be together in a year’s time or how it sounded as though she’d barely even had a boyfriend.

“Scott, I don’t know a lot about love, I’ve never really had a guy in my life like that, you know, and so I can’t really tell what it’s supposed to feel like, but you’ve kept me feeling happy all day and I wouldn’t know how to explain how that is, anymore than I can tell you why I was bloody terrified when it looked you were going to run out on me…”

“Sorry…” Scott cut in again, this time feeling his cheeks burn as the recollection of how he was about to flee from her rejection came back to haunt him and cause him to feel quite sheepish.

“It’s okay; it’s my fault really… ‘I don’t’ do seem like words you should avoid when talking to a guy who’s just told you he loves you,” Tanya tried to joke, but her smile only lasted for a brief moment before she returned to sporting a more serious expression.

“Scott, what I’m trying to say, and I’ve been bungling it pretty badly I know, is that this is all happening really fast and that I’ve always scoffed at the concept of love at first sight, but I do think that I can’t stand being without you.”

“What are you saying?” Scott asked, now having lost the sense of dread that tormented him only moments earlier as it began to dawn on him that perhaps he hadn’t made such a terrible mistake after all.

Tanya responded to Scott’s question by leaning forwards and planting a kiss on his lips, although she made very sure not to use any tongue in it.

“Scott, in a very roundabout way for which I’m very sorry, I’ve been attempting to tell you that I really do think I love you,” Tanya revealed, keeping her lips mere millimetres away from his while her hand inched its way up his arm.

Scott reacted to Tanya’s words by wrapping his arms around her and driving his head forwards to kiss her, all the tension fading away from him to be replaced by a monumental sense of relief and joy that manifested itself in the kiss that he was giving her, and he soon found himself having been pushed onto his back by her so that she could straddle him while they continued their lengthy smooching.

“Now Scott,” Tanya’s face seemed to glow as she flashed him a smile which made his heart skip a whole slew of beats, “I don’t want to come across as too strict or anything, but do you remember my ground rule about us not wearing any clothes while in the room?”

“Yeah…” Scott returned Tanya’s smile and then found that he was both incapable of and unwilling to resist the temptation of providing her with another kiss.
