Conquered

Warfare and conquest were nothing new to these lands. Typically the village leaders would just assemble an offering at the end of each season and wait for a warlord to come take it in exchange for protection. If the tribute was ever insufficient the warlord might enslave a few villagers to make up the difference. It was a crude system based off of unspoken rules that worked out for everyone involved.
