What's next?
Tiffany and Winter speak as Mark finds out his time
Mark kept his eyes on the two very attractive college girls walking down the track towards the finish line. He felt anxious, more so about them than the actual sprint he was about to do.
He pondered what they would say to each other.
For the first few seconds, there was an awkward silence between the girls. All that could be heard was the sound of the light breeze heading down the track.
There was no doubt that the elephant in the room was on their mind. Something they both were **** to bury and forget about entirely.
Eventually they started to speak after Tiffany finally broke the ice, “So how are you going in all your classes?” she politely asked her, turning her head to face Winter as they walked.
“Oh pretty good thanks, a bit harder than my freshman year but I guess that’s normal isn’t it?”
“Yeah for sure, but overall it’s not too bad as you get through each year, take it from me,” Tiffany said, knowing well as a senior here.
“Does it feel weird knowing you’ve only get a semester and a bit before you graduate for real?” Winter asked her.
It was something that the brunette senior had thought about more and more as the weeks went on, “100 percent,” she told her, “I’m certainly a little worried to face the real world alone, this year has just flown by so fast, can’t believe we’re almost in 2020.”
“Tell me about it, I keep forgetting we’re almost in December again,” Winter said.
Just like that, the two girls had struck up a pleasantly nice conversation that came across very natural and not something ****. They kept talking as they reached the end of the finish line.
For Mark, he was 100 meters away from them now but he could still see them clearly enough to tell that they were smiling and laughing together. He didn’t know how he should feel about that. Seeing those two girls together was like a reminder of one of the biggest mistakes he had ever made.
He ruined two relationships in one move and it had seemed to haunt him like a cloud over the rest of the semester.
“You know,” Winter said with a sigh, “I’m really sorry about what happened earlier this year.”
She didn’t think this would come up like this but after getting a reminder of just how nice Tiffany was as a person, she couldn’t help but feel bad. Things could have been a lot worse for Winter this year if Tiffany wanted to hold them both accountable for their mistakes. She had chosen not to.
“Hey, it’s cool, these things happen, seriously don’t sweat it,” she told her with a smile.
It was a nice little moment that Winter truly appreciated, the smile on her face was one of genuine appreciation.
“Anyways, we’re girls, East Hall girls, we need to learn to stick together,” Tiffany told her.
They fist bumped and giggled together, it didn’t go unnoticed by Mark from the other side of the track, what the hell was that all about he whispered to himself.
However, he didn’t get much time to think about the meaning of it. Tiffany raised her arm as a signal that they were ready for him to start. Getting down on the crowd, Mark crouched in his starting blocks.
For just a few seconds, he let everything in his mind drift away. It wasn’t just about getting a good time that he can compare himself to the best, it was also about impressing the two girls at the end of the finish line.
Focusing carefully, he burst out of the blocks as quick as he could.
It may not have been the real event but Mark put everything he had into the race, sprinting as fast as he could. Running into a slight breeze made things a little difficult but he was seriously flying now.
The two girls at the end of the finish line the goal he was aiming for.
They cheered him on all the way through the finish line, running right through he turned back to see what time he made, “What was it?” he asked them.
“Shit sorry Mark, we forgot to time it,” Tiffany told him.
“You’re kidding…” he said while puffing hard, he was absolutely exhausted.
The girls laughed together, “Gotcha.”
Mark couldn’t help but smirk at them as he waited for his real time.
“10.92,” Tiffany eventually told him, “You should be really happy with that, especially with the breeze tonight.”
“Yeah you could easily get a better time in better conditions tomorrow,” Winter added.
The positivity from both girls cheered him up. He had a real belief that tomorrow could be his day, he could impress both of them with a win along with everyone else watching.
Mark wanted to be the hero for East Hall.
The next day…
