Preparing for Battle

Bob and Ted were both standing in front of the command tent with Denaasi when Emily joined them. Bob was explaining the next event to the Queen.

‘You just need to do the introduction, then basically stay out of the way and watch the battle. You know the way these fights go, the Holy Order is a much more organised army, so you and your guards will need to stay in view to rally the troops, that’s pretty much it. The Saviours are much more scrappy, so they’ll just pile in without much of a plan.’

Denaasi spoke up. ‘But what about the prisoner? Shouldn’t we do a trial?’

‘She’ll be fine for now, but today is quite busy with story events. We have a trial event ready for tomorrow before the final battle, but we didn’t know whether you would expose the spy or let her sabotage you. This way we’ll use the trial to fire up the Saviours, but you still get to use your dragon. Should be a good fight.’

‘So if Alexa hadn’t caught her, we’d have no dragon?’

‘Oh no, we’ve spent a lot of money on that, the dragon will definitely be in the battle! But she was going to use magic to turn it against you. Anyway!’ declared Bob, ‘All set? Ready for battle in an hour, yes?’

‘Where is Allegra now?’ asked Emily. She was trying to reconcile the fact that this spy she had uncovered was actually just a girl who had taken a job working on this weekend.

‘Oh, she’s in the stocks,’ stated Ted. Emily’s heart fluttered a little when he looked at her and smiled. ‘She’ll be fine until tomorrow, I spoke to her earlier. That was some good detective work, by the way.’ He smiled at her, and she felt herself blush as she grinned back before looking at her boots.

‘Okay then, an hour,’ said Bob, as he and Ted started to walk away. ‘We’ll see you on the battlefield.’ Emily and Denaasi looked at each other. They were going to war.
