Chapter 6 by Herrin26 Herrin26

What's next?

Pool Time

The pool was indeed empty, the water a serene blue, rippling slightly from Rachel's and Chloe's recent splashes. Rachel's laugh echoed off the tiles, a sound Max hadn't heard in what felt like an eternity. Rachel looked up, her eyes dancing with mischief. "Took you long enough," she called out.

Max felt her cheeks warm as she approached the showers, her heart racing. "What's going on?" she asked, trying to sound casual.

"We're going skinny dipping in the pool." Chloe smirked. "You coming?"

Max hesitated, glancing around. The empty pool area was a rare sight in the school's usually bustling hallways. "But what if someone sees us?"

Rachel leaned closer, whispering conspiratorially, "That's what makes it fun."

Chloe playfully splashed water at Max, droplets sparkling in the soft light. Rachel's eyes held a dare that Max couldn't ignore. Despite the nerves dancing in her stomach, she felt a thrill at the idea of breaking the rules, of letting go of the fear that had been her constant companion since Rachel's disappearance. Slowly, she began to peel off her clothes.

The cold tiles sent a shiver down her spine as she stepped into the shower area, but the warmth of Rachel's and Chloe's friendship wrapped around her like a comforting blanket. Rachel handed her a towel, and Max managed a small smile as she dried herself off. The giggles of the two other girls were contagious, and she found herself feeling lighter than she had in weeks.

"Come on, Max," Chloe urged, her eyes shimmering with excitement. Rachel nodded in agreement, the water droplets on her skin glistening like tiny diamonds. Max took a deep breath and stepped out from the safety of the showers, feeling the cool air kiss her bare skin. Rachel's hand found hers, and together they approached the edge of the pool.

The water was a perfect temperature, the kind that made you gasp when you first got in, but soon wrapped you in a warm embrace. Rachel and Chloe dove in with graceful arcs, their splashes echoing through the cavernous room. Max took a running start and leaped, her body cutting through the water's surface with a clean slice. The world went silent as she descended, the weight of the water enveloping her. For a brief moment, she was free from the chaos of her thoughts, free from the heavy burden of Rachel's absence.

When she surfaced, Rachel and Chloe were already treading water in the center, grinning like two rebels who had just pulled off the perfect heist. Rachel's hair fanned out around her like a halo, and Chloe's tattoos glowed in the dim light like secret treasures. The moon peeked through the high windows, casting an ethereal glow across the water, turning it into a shimmering tapestry of light and shadow.

Max swam over to them, feeling the weight of the water against her skin, a strange but comforting sensation. Chloe swam over to her. "Having fun Max?" She grinned pressing her bare breast against Max's shoulder playfully.

Max blushed and nodded. Rachel's laughter filled the air as she did a flip in the water, her wet hair flipping around her face like a mermaid's tail. "This is... amazing," Max said, her voice barely above a whisper.

The three of them swam closer, their movements creating gentle waves that lapped against the pool's edges. The air was charged with excitement and a hint of something else, something Max couldn't quite put her finger on.

"Okay Chloe." Rachel swam close and pressed their naked bodies together. "I dare you to kiss me."

Max watched, heart racing as Chloe leaned in and kissed Rachel with a passion that seemed to set the water around them alight. Rachel wrapped her arms around Chloe, pulling her in closer, their bodies tangling under the water. Max felt a pang of something she didn't quite understand, a mix of longing and excitement. Rachel broke the kiss, looking at Max with a playful glint in her eye. "Your turn," Rachel said, swimming over to her.

Before Max could react, Rachel's soft lips were on hers, tasting faintly of chlorine and something uniquely Rachel. The kiss was gentle, yet it sent shockwaves through her body, reawakening feelings that had lain dormant since Rachel had vanished from her life. Chloe hovered nearby, watching intently with a smile that spoke of shared secrets and unspoken understandings.
