"How, uh...how am I supposed to do that?" Lois said, not entirely clear on the concept.

As if in answer, Poison Ivy stretched out her hand...and a bright green fruit erupted from the ground at Lois Lane's feet.

In her years as a reporter, Lois had seen more than her fair share of suggestively-shaped plants. They were a staple of a certain kind of newspaper, the kind willing to hire a wet-behind-the-ears cub reporter straight out of journalism school, and they had a kind of universal appeal even—perhaps especially—in the era of the internet, when vast galleries of phallic fruit and vulva-like vegetables could be arrayed to delight the easily amused.

This rapidly-developing plant, however, was something on a different order.

It appeared to be primarily related to a squash; the skin was green and smooth, rigid and slightly curved. Also, distinctively, implausibly phallic. If a human penis could be nine inches long, two inches in diameter at the base, and bright green, it might have looked something like the plant that had blossomed so rapidly between the reporter's feet.

"Pick it!" Ivy moaned around the reporter's itching hand. "Oh hurry, I need it."

Despite what it felt like, the hand didn't look any more pink or swollen than normal—not like it would if she had actually stuck her hand into a bush of poison ivy—and the reporter hoped that meant it was a temporary effect that would go away once she washed her hand.
