Poll Results

First of all, I want to thank everyone again for their comments. I gave my thanks in the Afterword chapter, and then people piled on more support! You’re all too kind! I’m really happy you’re all liking the story.

Thanks to everyone who voted! Fewer people voted this time, with only 65 participants compared to 110 when I reviewed the poll at the end of Part 7. That’s okay, though, since there was only the Character Popularity poll, and that one’s just for fun. So, let’s look at the results!

Poll 1: Which characters do you like?

There were a total of 65 voters. ~85% (55 votes) of readers like Emilia. Gina miraculously managed to break the mold by barely getting over 50% (33 votes). No one but Emilia has passed the 50% mark before, so that’s quite impressive! Being in the last scene of Part 8 likely worked to her advantage, but Gina’s been pretty popular since her scene aboard the S.S. Anne, so I’m thinking most of those votes just come from people liking her and the way she interacts with Emilia.

The rest of the results are back to below 50% for everyone. I also notice that the average number of choices per voter was about 5.7, an unnoticeable change from last poll’s 5.6. It seems that requiring a minimum of 3 choices per voter had little impact. Which is fine because, again, this is just for fun. Like last time, I can see some tiers emerging in the results, which look like this:

• S Tier – Emilia, Gina
• A Tier – Samantha, Grey, Nurse Joy, Lt. Surge, Marie, Master Kim
• B Tier – Professor Stump, Sabrina, Officer Jenny, Misty, Charlotte
• C Tier – Lorelei, Brooke, Janine, Erika
• D Tier – Sally, Julie

Honestly, Marie’s results surprise me. I thought the entitled social media addict would be disliked. Maybe people liked her dramatic reactions to Emilia and Grey being comfortable around each other? Or maybe people just liked her girlboss attempt during the museum scene.

I wish I could say Brooke’s results surprise me, but some things are to be expected when you make a character as annoying as possible. Even being based on Brock, a character who’s usually good for a laugh in the anime, wasn’t enough to get her a good ranking. Oh well!
