What's next?
Plumber arrives
The doorbell cuts through the silence cleanly.
Maya: that'll be the plumber.
She sets her mug down and moves toward the door. The moment dissolves behind her.
Miles collects his dry clothes from the laundry room and changes while Maya walks the plumber through to the kitchen. By the time he comes back out she is already handling it, calm and competent, more in control of the situation than she has been given credit for all afternoon.
She steps into the hallway when she sees him.
Maya: heading out?
Miles: you've got it from here.
She walks him to the door. He steps outside and turns back. She is leaning against the frame, arms loosely crossed, the white top catching the late afternoon light.
Maya: thanks for coming. Really.
Miles: anytime.
Maya: Miles.
