Chapter 78 by keron keron

What's next?

Playing

Since it's a smaller setting and the players in the room look like experts, you decide not to use Bruno's former magic ring excessively, trying to depend on your own skills and luck for the games. From time to time, you activate Bruno's former magic ring only when it comes down to the end and when just a little bit of luck doesn't make anyone suspicious.

The lumberjack is the first player out, as he constantly bets high even when he doesn't have a good hand. When he's out of chips, he grumbles to himself before smacking the table with a open palm, then he exits the room in a huff. Another few hands later, the old man is out of luck too, although instead of losing all his chips, he gives the small stack he has remaining to the dealer as a generous tip. The dealer nods in appreciation, although he maintains his neutral expression. You can't imagine that would be an enjoyable job, stuck in windowless rooms all day and dealing cards just to watch other people get richer. The old man doesn't leave however, choosing to go over to the bar to get a drink and watch the game play out from there.

As the game progresses, the man in the tuxedo, the woman in the baseball cap and you are pretty even, each almost winning an equal amount of hands, although by using your ring at strategic times, you eventually start to pull ahead while the woman's pile of chips start to diminish, losing to both you and the man in the tuxedo.

On the next hand, the woman folds early, unwilling to wager all her chips, and you and the man keep raising, until you subtly activate your magic ring and push all your chips to the center of the table.

"All in," you say with a cocky look. The man in the tuxedo wants to follow, but he pauses, realizing he doesn't have enough to match your wager. "I'd take anything of worth to make up the difference," you say, looking at the dealer for concurrence. He nods, and beckons to the man in the tuxedo to make an offer. "You're short 15 thousand, sir," the dealer states.

What does he wager?
