Play it safe with Veronica and Abby

You and Olivia wordlessly agree to sit with Veronica and Abby. As you make your way over, you overhear what a part of a conversation between the scientist and the business woman.

"Did you see how mad she was? Her face went from green to red! I guess the only way she dwarfs anyone here is with her ego." You hear the scientist say.

"Are you not worried about making enemies this early in a place like this?" You hear the business woman ask.

"Oh who cares? besides its not like hypnosis is real or anything." You hold in a chuckle at that remark. That scientist is in for a rude awakening.

You both then reach your destination as Veronica and Abby notice you two walking up to the table. Veronica's face lights up as you approach.

"Yo! Olivia, John! Meet my roomie! This is Abby." Veronica introduces her to the both of you as you take a seat.

"I've already bumped into her earlier. Hey Abby." You say as you take a bite of your burger. Holy shit! This tastes amazing! You have no idea what its made of, but damn is it good.

"John told me about her. Its nice to meet you Abby. I'm Olivia, John's roommate." Olivia says with a slight neutral expression towards Abby. She sounds a bit unhappy with her. Giving what Abby promised you, you understand.

"Nice ta meet ya too Olivia." Abby says with a little hint of apprehension.

Over the course of dinner, everyone got to know each other a little better. You learn that Abby is actually a kobold and a cyborg. Also, she is from a high tech dystopian world where you guess that technology replaces magic. She is a military technician who lost her job because her former coworkers framed her for tampering with one of the mechs, causing it to disassemble as the pilot activated it. Abby came here so she can obtain the skills needed to find the culprit and clear her name. Thankfully, as the conversation went on, Olivia and Abby started to get along a little bit better than when they first met.

"So where did you two head off to before coming here?" Asks Veronica.

"Well, we went to the school counselor's office to try and calm my nerves over my situation here. Turns out she has her own hallway and multiple offices she can be in through time travel, if you can believe it. Anyway, when Ms. Charity and I were talking, the dean showed up and explained why she put a bounty on my head. It turns out I have a 'unique' soul that becomes more powerful when I'm hypnotized and she wants to study why I'm like this by giving the whole class incentive for trying to control me."

This causes both Veronica and Abby to freeze in shock as you explain the ordeal to them. You decided that you won't tell them about the 'compensation' you are given. It might make you look like a pervert if you spill the beans on that.

"So I've been thinking. Maybe I should let myself get hypnotized by someone I can trust. That way, I'll have some power in our corner should something go wrong." Your proposal causes both Olivia and Veronica to be first shocked and then your explanation calms them down slightly. Abby on the other hand seems happy by your idea.

"Well, if you think that way, I guess we can take turns hypnotizing you once we all learn some way how. But we still need to take caution from here on out. Starting tomorrow, you won't be so safe anymore, and I'm not sure if you'll how much stronger you'll get after being hypnotized." Olivia states with concern. She does have a point.

"Hey. If it means anything, ah'd like to help out. I know what ah said earlier to ya John, but hearing ya out, ah'm willing to change gears and keep ya safe if it means anything." Abby brings up, causing you to calm down a little, now that you have more people on your side. Olivia and Veronica seem relieved by what Abby said, Olivia especially looks a lot more happier with Abby now.

"So now that we have a team set up, we gotta ,like, go over what skills we got, or what skills we plan on getting here. So who's gonna, like, be good at what here?" Veronica asks the whole table. Its a good idea to know everyone's skills at least. It'll mean everyone can build on everyone else's strength and weaknesses. Olivia is the first to speak up.

"Well, my skills are based around my physical prowess, so I'll be specializing in chi. I might pick up some chemistry skills while I'm here. What about you Abby? " She asks as she turns to the kobold.

"Ah'm a technician, so Ah work well with technology. Being a cyborg and all, Ah got a bit of an advantage with machines." Abby states as she shows of her hands. Some of the fingers open up and what looks like tools come out.

"I guess chemistry is what I can work with. Oh, I can work with hypnosis class too. My friends tell me how soothing my voice is." Veronica brings up. You heard her talk enough to confirm her claim. The whole table now looks at you for your input, causing you to feel a bit nervous.

"Well, unfortunately, I don't have any skills in mind control, but I'd like to try my hand in magic. I did take some classes back home on swordplay. I can hold my own with a saber." You explain to the group. Olivia's eyes light up at you mentioning your swordsmanship. She clings to you in a joyous fashion.

"You know some swordplay? We HAVE to spar sometime. I can get you a saber from my world if you don't have one yourself. Oh We are going to have a great year." Olivia bursts with joy as she speaks. Her sudden outbursts takes you by surprise as she goes on about what style of swords she can get and what forms and techniques you know. She is suddenly pulled back by Abby to bring her out of her fit.

"Easy there girl. Save it for another time, hun." Abby tells her as Olivia begins to faintly blush at her own outburst. Its kind of cute actually.

"Sorry. I kind of get carried away with swordplay. It was a fun class they taught me back home in the adventuring school I went too. I ended up getting really into it." Olivia apologizes as she finishes her food.

With dinner finished, Your group exits the cafeteria and make their way to the dorms.
