Plans and preparations

You wait until the next morning to gather everyone again. Anna makes a lovely breakfast, and you all sit around your table to eat. As you finish your meal, the pleasant conversation slows, and Sadie is of course the one to blurt out the question.

“So, are you some kind of super mage now? With your rule breaking powers?”

You laugh, waving a hand. “No, not at all. Honestly, I think absorption mages just aren’t very well understood, especially ones as powerful as I apparently can be. From what I understand, they are incredibly rare, even in the old world. And I’m not that powerful yet, really. In comparison to people here, sure. But for an example, Kali was one of the weakest of the Lilim, and she still almost killed me without much effort.”

The angelic redhead blushes, looking down with a muttered “Sorry...” Anna, sitting beside her, gently pats her arm and comforts her.

You continue, “So, regardless of how powerful I feel, I’m just not where I need to be for my plans. Which means, I’m not going to stress about it yet. Instead, we’re going to do something fun!”

The girls look at you with a mixture of curiosity and excitement.

“We’re all going to go on a date. I want each of you to pick something you want to do with me. Anything at all. Except you, Kali. You’re first, and we’re going to go visit a certain diner. It will be good for you, and Daisy is sure to want to meet you.”

Kali nods, looking extremely nervous. You smile at her. “Don’t worry, it will be fine, I promise. The other thing I ask of you girls is to get to know each other better. I know you have little groups formed, but try hanging around with everyone. Who knows, you might have more in common than just me!”

Everyone laughs at that, and excited chatter begins around the table. You’re proud of your great idea.
