Chapter 6

Go home after work or have some fun at the office?
Plan to wait ... until something else happens
I was planning on simply going home after work and waiting for Sally, and playing with her if she turned up (or putting down 'delusions of grandeur' in my diary as a side effect if she didn't). However a few hours later I was putting some papers together and was in need of a stapler. I reached out, and at first I couldn't find it, then I put my hand on it. It was only after I had used it that I realised that Mike had borrowed it without giving it back. I'd seen it on his desk just a moment ago as I walked back to mine. His desk 20 feet away! I could be imagining it, he might have returned it while I wasn't looking (I might even have made him do so with my "mind control" powers) but given the weird day I was having already I decided to test if what I was considering was even possible.
I looked over at Cliff's desk, just a few feet away and concentrated on one of the loose pens. I made sure he was looking the other way and then tried to make it come toward me. To my shock it slowly rolled toward me and onto the floor. Either I was mad (a very real possibility) or I had developed not only telepathic mind control but telekinesis. Suddenly what had been an unbelievable range of things I could do with my mind control became a mind-boggling range. If I could move things with my mind as well the prospects were almost endless. I needed to think, to consider what to do next.
Should I wait and test my abilities at home where there was less prospect of being seen? Should I test them here on the assumption that I could mind control anyone who saw me into not telling or even forgetting? Should I tell my boss where to stuff his job and then use these abilities to make as much money as I could for as long as they last? Or should I, in fact, go back to Medpharmaco and tell them what I think is happening before I do something really stupid, in case I'm a) mad or b) doing irreparable damage to my brain by using these abilities?
What to do?
Telepathy & Telekinesis
You can't spell without 'esper'
At the end of your financial rope, you decide to answer some questionable want-ads, and through either medical experimentation, mad science, or getting involved with mysterious occult figures--you find yourself the recipient of powers usually left to the worlds of fantasy and science-fiction.
