'W-who's there?!'

Yukari glared suspiciously at the new arrival to the darkened ground floor of the Iwatodai Dorm. The time was past midnight. No ordinary person would come in at such an hour. She reached down to the gun holster strapped to her right thigh.

"Wait!" a second voice called out behind her. The lights turned on, revealing a slender young boy with blue hair. Yukari turned.

"I didn't think you'd arrive so late." Mitsuru commented, advancing towards the boy. "I'm Mitsuru Kirijo," she added, by way of introducing herself. She turned to Yukari. "He's a transfer student, assigned to this dorm as a last minute decision. He'll eventually be moved to the boys dorm."

"Wait a second," Yukari protested. "This was supposed to be a girls' dorm. There's absolutely no way that we can allow him in."

"Makoto," Mitsuru addressed the boy, brushing aside Yukari's objections, "This is Yukari Takeba. She'll be in the same class as you this spring."

"I didn't give you permission to use my name. I don't see why he needs to stay here," Yukari protested.

"Why don't you show him to his room?"

"Fine, come with me." Yukari stormed off. She stopped at a door on the second floor. "This is your room. Okay? Third floor is off limits. And don't pretend like you know me at school." She left in a huff.
