He didn't wrong you, directly. Rukia has believed in him, Yamamoto-soutaichou has believed in him, all since the incident that still plagues you with guilt. If they have gotten past it, then why should you hold onto a grudge on years past? You have no need to bother with business that isn't yours... you can't fight Rukia's battles.

"It is not to me you should be making amends," you tell him, turning enough to appraise his expression. "You didn't wrong me."

His grin is lopsided, his eyes twinkle in the shadow of his repulsive hat and his fan comes up as if to hide what the hat doesn't cover. "My, my, you're awfully forgiving. You're still mad at Yoruichi for her games, aren't you?"

That wretched woman, her taunts... no one made a fool of Kuchiki Byakuya, no matter the age, and got away with it. That is a grudge you'll hold until the day you defeat her and prove your shunpo far exceeds hers. Until then... "Don't make me repeat myself. I am not the one who you should be begging for forgiveness."

"She's still your sister," he twitters.

"I don't fight Rukia's battles for her."

You can see it in his eyes. He doesn't mean the Hogyouku or the execution. He doesn't mean going against Seireitei's laws and sending that ryoka boy. He means the anguish you suffered knowing you'd lose the last semblance of family you had, the thing that everyone seems to know, whether they are your family or not.

But you don't blame him for it. It's your own fault... for letting yourself get swept away in promises that contradicted each other, promises you didn't plan ahead for, promises that you couldn't keep. "What do you want from me?"

"Come have some tea with me. Pretty people are always snatched off the streets. Wouldn't want anything to happen to pretty Byaku-chan."

An insult! You sorely wish to remind him that his place is that of an exile and he has no right to be familiar with you.
