Penny

Orange hair greeted Jaune as he looked up, followed by bright green eyes full of concern. The freckled face girl who collided with him was already to her feet, reaching out a hand to help Jaune up. The girl was wearing a large pink bow that sort of clashed with her hair. She wore a white old-fashioned styled off the shoulder long sleeve blouse with frills and also sported a short gray pinafore dress. The girl also wore a pair of black thigh-high leg pieces that seemingly were attached to black shoes. The leg pieces had a single green stripe up the side. Jaune definitely recognized her.

She was Penny Polendina, a strange but sweet girl who was close friends with Ruby.

“Good morning, Boyfriend Jaune!” Penny beamed at him as she helped him up. For a small girl, she was pretty solid and strong. “It is a wonderful morning, is it not?!”

“Morning, Penny!” Nora waved.

“Penny!” Pyrrha admonished. “You shouldn’t collide with people like that.” Jaune thought she looked annoyed for a moment, but then her face went passive.

“Sorry!” Penny apologized. “I was just so happy to see Boyfriend Jaune.”

“It’s fine.” Jaune chuckled, looking the cute girl over. “And you don’t have to say Boyfriend every time, Penny.” She had an interesting way of talking, but he kind of found it endearing. Though he wasn’t sure why she liked to use adjectives in front of names so much.

“But how will people know you’re my boyfriend?” Penny tilted her head in confusion.

“They will,” Jaune assured her. “You can introduce someone as your boyfriend or girlfriend, but you don’t have to say it every time you say my name.”

“I see. I will save that to memory.”

Nora, Pyrrha, and Ren didn’t comment on her unusual way of talking. With the entry Jaune wrote last night, the girl who crashed into him would already have been his girlfriend. So, everyone saw Penny being in a relationship with him for a while. Jaune figured it was easier that way than just trying to act like they just got together after a run in. It would save a lot of weird introductions at least so he could get to the fun parts quicker.

“Do you want to join us for breakfast, Penny?” Jaune asked.

“That sounds sensational, and I would love to.” Penny beamed as she hugged him. Huh, Jaune didn’t see her as the type to be so forward. She then joined his team in the cafeteria, with them all sitting next to Team RWBY.

“Hey, Penny!” Ruby beamed.

“Hello, Friend Ruby!” Penny replied happily. “I am spending time with my boyfriend.”

“I can see that.” Ruby giggled, seeing her closely sit next to Jaune.

“Do you now want anything to eat?” Jaune noticed Penny didn’t get a plate of food when everyone else did.

“I am not hungry at the moment,” Penny answered quickly, sounding a little nervous. Jaune instantly decided not to say anything. This was too similar to when one of his sisters went on a diet. It was best not to constantly remind them of food because it could cause a relapse. Not that Jaune thought Penny needed to lose weight. She seemed pretty fit, though the weight of her collision was still fresh in his mind.

However, out of the corner of his eyes, Ruby seemed to be nervous too.

“So finally give up on Weiss Cream?” Yang laughed. “Thought for sure you would keep it up for another couple of months at least.”

“She made it clear she didn’t want me.” Jaune shrugged. “And then I met Penny.” It was best to remain aloof here, act like he wasn't still pinning over the beautiful girl.

“I am very happy Weiss was unable to see Boyfriend Jaune’s amazing qualities and would rather be alone.” Penny nodded, causing Weiss to start **** on her food. Both teams turned to Penny, who was smiling and seemingly unaware of what she did.

“W-What… how-... that’s not-...!” Weiss spluttered.

“AHAHAHAHA!” Yang was bent over laughing. “You picked a winner, Vomit Boy.”

“She’s got some claws hidden away.” Blake nodded.

“My body does not have claw modifications though.” Penny was thoroughly confused.

“It’s just a saying.” Ruby shook her head quickly. “And Penny, that sounded kind of mean.”

“Oh, I am so sorry.” Penny apologized. “I did not realize the truth about my feelings held those inclinations. I apologize, Weiss.”

Nora and Yang snickered, because for those who did not know Penny, it would indeed sound mean. But Penny was such a nice girl. There's no way she meant that to be insulting in any way. Everyone there knew it, but that didn’t stop it from being funny, especially with Weiss’ reaction. The heiress was staring daggers at Jaune, thinking he put her up to it. Pyrrha meanwhile was staring at Penny intently, not really talking.

Ren, the smartest of the group, decided to keep to himself and eat his breakfast.
