What's next?
Paying Walker a visit
The FBI office in New York is easy to find and teleport to. You had made a quick stop at a costume shop near Times Square to pick up a plain black cowl to conceal your face. It's like Batman's cowl without the pointed tips on top of your head. You opt to not go for the full body costume since that looks silly. Maybe you'll get 1 eventually if you can find a professional to make you 1 that doesn't look like a halloween costume.
It's late but of course there are still people in the office at the FBI. With time still stopped, you walk around until you find an office that has a sign on the door that says "Renee Walker". She's still so new to the city that they haven't had time to make a name plate for her office yet. You walk in and agent Walker is hunched over the desk reading a report. You close the door behind you and look around, trying to figure out the best way to do this.
You could use your mind control on her, but if she is as ambitious as you think she might be, you don't want to mess her mind up by accident. Instead, you choose to lock the door, turn off all the lights in the office, and stand against the wall behind agent Walker. She's sitting about a foot in front of you. You feel around her waist for her gun and you take it out of her holster and press it against the back of her head. Since you have no intention of actually shooting her, you don't put your finger on the trigger. Once everything is set and you've had the opportunity to play things out in your mind a few times, you let time resume.
Immediately, agent Walker notices the sudden darkness and she jerks up. However, the back of her head is obstructed by the gun and she freezes, knowing the feeling.
"Don't move any sudden movements or noises," you say in a low, rasp voice, just like Batman does in the movies to hide the fact he's Bruce Wayne. It's lame, but it's the simplest solution to keeping your identity a secret.
Agent Walker does as you instructed, sitting still and not making a sound. Calmly, she speaks. "What do you want? Who are you? How did you get in?"
"I'm B-, I mean, I'm a person who think we can be mutually beneficial to each other. I want to clean up this city and so do you, but we have different methods. As to how I got in, let's just say I have special skills," you say in your raspy voice.
"Are you... this feels an awful lot like Batman, except I didn't know Batman to threaten Commissioner Gordon with a gun," agent Walker remarks. You're impressed that she's familiar with Batman.
You take the gun off the back of her head, but still hang onto it for now. "Sorry, I just needed your attention and cooperation. Keep looking ahead and we're good. Do we understand each other?"
It takes agent Walker a few moments to answer. She must be considering her tactical options. "We do. Fine, tell me what you want."
"I want to help. But I'm on the other side of the law so I can't be as effective as I want to be. Did you hear about all these criminals popping out of nowhere in holding cells all across the city tonight?" you ask.
"That's your doing? We've been hearing about it all night and nobody has any idea what's going on."
"Yes."
"How did you do that? Some of those people have records and outstanding warrants, but the ones that don't, were let go."
"That's why I wanted to come talk to you and see if we can figure out a deal."
"What sort of deal? The FBI doesn't make deals with criminals," agent Walker says.
"First of all, the FBI does that all the time. Second, I'm not a criminal. You can call me a well-resourced and talented vigilante."
"Vigilantism is still a crime," agent Walker retorts.
"Well, I'm not sure New Yorkers would agree if they knew the kind of people I was rounding up. Anyway, here's the deal I propose. You give me a list of your most wanted in the city and I'll go after them and bring them in. And I'll bring you some criminals I come across along the way too. You can take all the credit publicly, as long as you don't pursue me and make sure that they all go to jail. That will surely help your career and ambitions."
Agent Walker doesn't respond for a while. She's a smart woman who didn't get this far but making snap decisions. You wait patiently in the dark. In the meantime, someone outside tries the door to her office but luckily you locked it. "She must have left," the person outside says to someone else, before they leave.
"How do I know I can trust you?" the FBI agent asks.
You have her attention. "Give me a name and information on any criminal. I'll bag them and hand them over to your tomorrow night," you say. Agent Walker takes the file she was reading and holds it up and over her shoulder for you to take it from her. You grab it hastily. "Tomorrow night, 10pm, on the roof of this building," you say, before you activate the magic ring to stop time. Then, you return agent Walker's gun to her holster, turn on the lights, and activate your invisibility ring before you let time resume.
Agent Walker snaps to attention and she spins around in her chair. You're standing in a corner of her office as she looks bewildered and starts searching around the office. When she can't find anyone, she returns to her desk to make sure that the file she was reading is indeed gone, before she slums back into her chair with a mixed look of confusion and thoughtfulness. Happy with the first step you've taken to make an ally, you teleport back to the estate to call it a night.
