In truth, though she had begun succumbing to her new body's urge and wants, Paula still felt a lot of guilty over her sexual activities. She cared about Jed so much, and she didn't want him to be hurt. The war within her was whether he should be hurt by her being with other men, and her ground was slipping on that front. So when she realized she could use the coin to change their entire relationship, she realized the war could end with both victorious. She'd read about open relationships before, as well as polyamory, she and Jed had even discussed it in the past, though they'd decided against it. Walking out of the room and into a nearby bathroom, Paula held the silver coin while looking in the mirror, excited to find a compromise. "What if Jed and I had been polyamorous from the beginning, each of us free to be with others while still being life partners? What if Charley was one of my regular fuck buddies?"

The coin glowed, and despite the word not appearing any differently, in her mind Paula was reeling from the new memories appearing in her head. That early conversation had gone in a completely different direction, and since then Jed has seen a few girls here and there, while Paula stuck with one or two solid fuck buddies, friends with benefits, one of whom was sitting back in the break room. Her altered memories saw the change the gold coin had given her with less judgmental eyes, as though she'd only been annoyed by her dalliances with the neighbor and driver by the fact that she hadn't discussed it with Jed beforehand, though they'd each already slipped up in the past on that front. Paula was having trouble seeing any flaws with what she'd done: now she didn't have to fight the slutty impulses as much, she could bone guys and still love Jed.
