Can Kenny Fix This?

Patchwork (HD)

For a few moments, the pair stood in awkward silence, both having the same realization of who they were with now and what that exactly meant. "You...can get a fire going?" Anna finally asked in a hopeful tone, her slim body still trembling uncontrollably.

"Oh, yeah! Yeah, I've been here a few times with Brian; let me just grab a lighter!" Kenny all but exclaimed. He set down his bags and stepped up the hallway a few feet, and ducked into the kitchen. He moved to the drawers by the sink and pulled one open, grabbing a long neck lighter from inside. "There we go," Kenny smirked and looked up, glancing momentarily out the window above the sink.

He paused, his eyes locked on the sight of Brian and Gwen making their way around to the generator shed. He could see their smiles, a few laughs, and then to top it off, he saw Brian give Gwen a slap on the ass. The brunette gave the blonde a playful push and was all smiles, and a different kind of anger overtook Kenny. Okay, what the fuck?! Brian, you can't have both. I know you and Gwen were fuck buddies before but if you're with Anna now, you can't just go cheat on her or whatever! You'll break her fucking heart if she sees you and Gwen flirting let alone fucking!

"K-Ken, did you find it yet!" Kenny **** himself away from the window and quickly returned to Anna. He lifted his hand, giving the lighter a quick shake, "Oh, thank God, it's summer; it's not supposed to be this cold!" Anna whined, and Kenny let out a chuckle.

The two entered a doorway on the left side of the lodge and entered a large, open den, making their way to the giant stone fireplace. Kenny quickly prepared it for a fire, opening the chimney and stocking it with a few logs from the stack of dry wood on the left. With not too much of a hassle, Kenny was able to get light up a good fire starter and plant it in between the logs, and after a few slow minutes, the logs began to catch, and the warming orange glow filled the room.

"Oh God, thank you so much; you're totally my hero!" Anna stuck her frozen fingers out and warmed them.

"No problem, Anna," Kenny warmly returned as he let himself sit back next to the blonde. Silence returned between them, and again they both seemed to be sharing the same thoughts. However, this time Kenny felt the urge to say something. Anna was his friend first, if she was happy with Brian, he couldn't hate her for it. But beyond that, he knew that after how he acted with her, she deserved an apology, a real one. "Look..." Anna turned her head immediately, "This is going to be weird no matter how or when I say it, but...I just wanted to say I'm sorry."

"Sorry?" Anna echoed,

Kenny rubbed the back of his head, "Yeah, you know, for how I was acting in my room earlier this week. I was being a real prick to you, and I've felt like shit since. I would have said it sooner...I guess I was just too scared or whatever. Didn't know how to say it."

Anna blinked a few quick times, staring back at Kenny blankly for a moment before suddenly shutting her eyes and sighing in relief, "I am so happy to hear you say that! It wasn't just me then." Kenny's eyes lit up, "I was thinking the same thing, Ken, honestly. I was being so damn rude and intrusive, you have every right to privacy, and I had no right to try and **** things out into the open if you didn't feel comfortable. I'm sorry too, Kenny!" The blonde turned her body and quickly leaned in, pulling Kenny into an embrace, "You're such a good friend; I was so sad thinking that I somehow screwed it all up."

The word friend bounced around Kenny's mind for a few long seconds as he held onto the blonde. He had just thought the same of her moments ago, but to hear her say it to him, just friends, it still felt disappointing. Even so, Kenny was more than happy to feel that awkward uncertainty falling behind them finally, "I was thinking the same thing. I was thankful when Brian called me about this trip; I figured it'd be the best chance I had to patch things up."

The teens broke their hug, and Anna sat back down, sticking a bit closer to Kenny now, "I guess I had a similar thought; I was thinking we'd be having way too much fun to be upset at each other."

"Hey, I'm still up for having too much fun to be upset," Kenny chuckled as he turned his head, looking at Anna, who quickly caught sight of it and did the same. The teen extended a hand out to the girl, "So, want to make that deal?"

Anna giggled, "Absolutely, Mr.Clark." She took his hand into a tight squeeze, and they shook. "To having too much fun to be upset." She echoed with a quick giggle.

How does the night continue?
