Party like an Animal

Maddy decides she needs a drink. She needs to be around humans, to remember who she is. She hears music up ahead.

As she turns the corner she spots a very drunk Catherine. There’s nowhere to go to avoid her.

She tries to slip by unnoticed. Catherine spots her and grins wickedly.

“If it isn’t the little rug muncher. How’s your closet?”

Rage and a desire to kill rises in Maddy. She feels her talons straighten.

“Pussy got your tongue?” Catherine laughs at her own joke.

Maddy swings her hand her talons connect with Catherine’s face. She pushes magic at her not fully understanding what she’s doing.

Catherine screams. Maddy smells blood and ozone. Catherine disappears.

Maddy is stunned. Where Catherine stood is just a pile of clothes.

“Squawk! What the hell did you do to me, bitch!”

A Pentacaw sits in the pile of clothing.

“I’m going to rip your eyes out!”

“No you won’t. I’m Ma-Gul. You will be a nice quiet part of the flock.”

“Y…”

Suddenly, Catherine is silent. She flaps her wings and lands on Maddy’s shoulder. Maddy feels guilty. She feels like she should turn Catherine back, only she has no clue how.

She steps into the party. She notes there are fewer people tonight. She orders a drink and begins sipping it.

Catherine eyes everyone. Maddy can sense her predatory instinct. She’s looking for someone she can kill.

“Stop that.” She says to the bird.

A drunk blond Maddy hasn’t met looks at her. “Nice bird. I’m Hazel.”

“Nice to meet you, Hazel.”

Catherine eyes her with malevolence.

“Really nice to meet you, Hazel, but I think I need to feed my bird. Catch you later?”

Hazel smiles lustily. “Absolutely.”

Maddy leaves the party. It pains her to think it, but she needs to transform Catherine back.
