Party in Asgard
"You really must get ready for the feast, Walter- er, Master! The ladies are waiting on you."
Walt finally looked up from the manuscript he was studying and smiled. She'd finally used his name. "Ah! Sorry, Elyia. I have a hard time stopping when I'm working." He sighed and pushed back from the table rising. He tugged at the fancy tunic trying to get it straight. "Elyia you look nice as well. I like that green."
She smiled. "Thank you for saying so Master," and courtsied in her long elegant dress of black and green. It was a bit plain... but the cut was magnificent and very flattering. She was a beautiful woman with attractive curves and what hinted strongly at long limbs. She had a graceful elegance that belayed a slightly playful nature in her movements. He watched her fingers twitch and Walt chuckled. "Let me guess... no, good?"
She smiled. "I think you look wonderful. That color of grey and blue suits you well... but... may I?"
Walt smiled and nodded. "Please do."
She approached him and straightened his collar and smoothed his outfit running her hands over it and him, smiling slightly. Walt smiled too. It was hard to believe that a beauty like hers was a mere servant or that she wasn't in a relationship of somekind. She nodded as she worked at making him presentable. "Any luck?"
Walt shook his head. "Unfortunately much of the Bifrosts origins are shrouded in mystery and obscurity. The information you brought me though has been wonderful, thank you. It does indeed mention that the Bifrist Architect was a "wizard" as well as these interesting related tales of similar stories. Particularly this one about separated lovers."
She smiled. "I know my way around the library and archives. I am afraid I must admit I have a weakness for good stories."
"Is that so?" He asked. "Why is that?"
She smiled a bit wistfully as she helped him put his cloak on. "I sometimes wish I was apart of a good one myself. Things have been... difficult since losing my family." She shook her head. "Which is true for many here in Asgard. I have been working hard to try to do my part in creating my own 'good story'... reading other stories helps me to keep working towards that goal for myself. It's inspiring." She looked up at him shyly and turned her eyes from his gaze. "I think..."
"Yes?" Walt asked smiling. "What do you think, Elyia? I'd like to know."
She smiled a bit flirtily then reached up and rearranging the way his cloak hung. "Yes... like this. A bit dashing but also roguish suits you, Master!"
Walt grinned. "Thank you very much, Elyia." He also looked at her. "I think you look quite nicely as well. Are you certain you won't dress up a bit more?"
She shook her head. "That wouldn't be proper... but just for curiosities sake what would you suggest?"
Walt smiled. "A slightly darker shade of green," he brushed her raven black locks from her face looking into her hreen eyes. "Would compliment your lovely eyes... and a touch of gold to go with it."
She blinked and turned away. "I see. Gold would hardly be appropriate... but I shall remember that for the future."
Walt nodded. "For what it's worth I genuinely hope you get your 'good story' someday, Elyia." He offered her his arm.
She lightly placed her hand on his and took it smiling. "I believe you do. Thank you... Walter."
The feast was better than Walt feared... but not great. The hall was splendid. Colorful banners hung over tables with fine foodstuffs upon them as music played and finely dressed people ate, drank, danced and talked.
"Whoa!" Said Jubilee and Gwen's face practically lit up. "Just like something Pete would describe at game night... only fancier!"
Linda and Shocket seemed impressed too but Jen frowned a bit and Walt guessed as much from the odd face Elyia bore.
Walt shook his head. "The tables aren't 'covered in the abundance of the nine realms groaning under their weight'. The music is struggling 'to fill the hall'. The people are eating, drinking and dancing but there isn't a 'smile on every face' and 'a cheery atmosphere' and they don't crowd the room. It's all a bit forced... an echo from happier times, yes?"
Elyia simply nodded. "I'm afraid it's just as you say. It was different in Odin's day and Asgard's hieght. Truly spectacular."
Walt could well imagine. "He was different too, I bet."
Presiding over it all Thor Odinson didn't seem pleased. He looked... morose. Likely making the same comparison to days gone by. His returned good mood of earlier had vanished yet again... and his people noticed it and acted accordingly. It soured the mood some.
"Well... maybe we can liven things up a bit?" He asked before adding. "By the way, I know I said it earlier but you all look especially lovely! You're visions!"
It was true. Jubilee and Gwen grinned in their yellow and pink and white and pink dress respectively looking like princesses. Jen meanwhile had gone with a bit more daring purple and white number. They all looked like royalty.
"They do look really nice," said Linda in a red and white dress while Shocket nodded in her purple and blue dress.
Walt chuckled and wnked with a biw. "They do but you ladies are quite beautiful as well. Care to dance?"
They both looked stunned. "W-what?"
Walt smiled. "I want to dance with you... all of you actually." He sees the others smile but he looks around. "But first we have work to do... we need to save this party. It's no wonder no one's having real fun. This might have worked well for Odin but not Thor he's and he's stewing about it... and the Asgardians got used to Earth's ways... hmmmm..."
Jubile grinned and excitedly asked, "You had an idea, didn't you?"
Walt nodded. "But it could take some doing..." he looked at Jen. "And it's all for naught if we don't pull him out of his funk." He quickly raised his hands. "I'm not saying to do anything with him. That's your call and honestly I don't think you should. But look at him." They did. "Have you seen Mjolnir? I didn't see it earlier and he doesn't seem to have it now. That's mildly disturbing... and more so he's miserable. That's a less than confident Thor. He needs moral support. A friend."
Jen sighs. "True... i don't know if I can be that... but I'd like to try. If he gets fresh though and I punch him that's-"
"Fine," Walt said. "I got the impression he spoiling for that earlier and who better than a friend to tell him to 'cut the crap'. He might even open up about stuff that he wouldn't tell an outsider or a subject." Walt nodded. "It's truly lonely at the top sometimes. Elyia has Thor been romantically linked with anyone lately?"
She shakes her head. "There are always rumors and I probably shouldn't say anything but... no, I don't believe he has been 'serious' as the earthlings say, in quite sometime."
Walt nodded. "Which is also unusual..." Walt looked around the room and sees two if Thor's usual love interests. "It doesn't look like Jane or Lady Sif are in a relationship with anyone at the moment... maybe..." he shook his head. "Later... first we need to rescue this party!"
