Pam Calls

Matt liked sleeping late on weekends, especially after a late Friday night. Instead, his phone rang promptly at six thirty.

He fumbled for it before finally finding it. "Hello."

"Hello. Is this Matt?"

The voice sounded familiar but it took a few seconds for his brain to catch up. "Uh, Cindi?"

Laughter. "No, it's Pam."

"Oh, hi Pam. What's up."

{if pamdate=true}We had a date today, remember. You were going to be my boyfriend to shut up some of my friends. Are you ready?"

{else}I have sort of a strange request. One of my college friends is having a party and she's been razzing me about not having a boyfriend. So, if I show up with a boyfriend, I'm one-up on her.

"So where do I come into this."

"Since you've been so nice to Cindi, I figured you'd also be nice to me. You'll have to pretend to be a college boy, though." She paused. "I would be very grateful."{endif}

"So, when is the date and do I need to wear anything special?"

"Oh, yeah. It's a pool party at noon. It's in the valley so I'll pick you up at ten-thirty."

"One more thing. Does Cindi know about this?"

"Of course not. She would have a fit. If you tell her, she'll probably never speak to either of us again."
