Overheard

As you exit the garden, you jump at hearing someone else. "So," Helga says, herself hiding behind a hedge at the opposite end of the garden, near the exit, "you intend to lend out some of my clothing? How charitable" she says, no hint of humor on her face. You fumble around for words. "H-how long are you, I mean have you, b-been listening?" She tosses her head to the side. "Long enough. It is good we are on the same side dear. You seem to lack skill in intrigue, certainly compared to myself." There is an awkward silence for several seconds before she continues. "I applaud your powers of prescience. I have no idea how you would know I would tolerate such things, under certain conditions. I hope it serves you well when you lead you armies to take my birthright" she says, her eyes mocking. You feel like the wind has been knocked out of you, and don't know how to respond. Helga picks up on this. "Go, fetch her some of my clothes. I was in need of a servant anyways. If you don't mind, dear fiance."

Well, you at least know that Helga will honor her word. You have no doubt the details of your arrangement will be made explicitly clear to Cecily by her new mistress, though you feel bad for the sensitive girl. Hopefully, once Helga's crown has been claimed she will go back to Daynland and leave Cecily behind, allowing the poor girl some peace for the first time in a long time.

At dusk, you bring one of Helga's dresses back to the garden and help Cecily change. In the low light, you sneak her back to Helga's carriage before your procession leaves the monastery grounds. As far as you can tell, nobody has noticed Cecily's absence, and they probably won't until you are long gone.
