Chapter 56 by keron keron

What's next?

Over compensating

After you get back from Dubai, you return to your hotel in Los Angeles where it's already late and you call it a day, exhausted from your extracurricular activities that are very unsuperhero-like. In fact, what you had just done was straight out of the supervillain handbook, but luckily for you, nobody will ever find out. It's the last that anyone will ever hear about Kristen and Amanda.

The next day, you decide to return to your crime fighting duties, vigilantly monitoring all police scanners and teleporting all around the country to save people in need or stop terrible crimes from being committed. You even save a baby that had somehow managed to climb onto the window sill of a 10-story building, getting there just in time to see him slip off the edge. However, with your ability to stop time, it's easy to pluck him out of the air, as you hold him up like that scene in the Lion King for the camera crews on scene.

It feels good to save people and you really get into it, almost obsessing about how many people you can save, and wondering how you could have done better in instances when you're too late, like when an old lady was mugged in the streets of Seattle and stabbed multiple times even after she had given up her valuables.

About a week goes by quickly, with you launching obsessively into crime fighter duties from the moment you wake up till some point in the middle of the night when you're too tired to stand and you find the nearest hotel with an empty bed to collapse in. Sometimes it's in a big city like Chicago or Boston, other times you're in the middle of rural Idaho or Wyoming. Of course, your surge of activity has been noticed all around the country, and people are starting to view you more favorably. And, with the state of police departments in shambles and distrusted by the public, people now commonly say that it's better to pray for your help rather than call 911.

Then 1 day, you wake up in yet another hotel. You look at the clock and it's already 3PM, and you have no idea where you are. That's how stretched you've gotten, and you stumble out of bed and go pull the curtains apart. You're back in Los Angeles. You've been going at it so hard since that day with Kristen and Amanda, and you wonder if it has anything to do with it. Staring out into the nice weather and the clear blue waters of the swimming pool below, you decide it's time for you to take a break and indulge yourself.

What do you do?
