Chapter 5 by Mr Nice Guy Mr Nice Guy

Out of the House

Barry didn’t mind driving, but having to drive all the way across town just because Jane wanted a specific ingredient for supper was more than frustrating. Sure, he knew that she was a foodie, but could you really tell the difference between the gouda from the specialty shop and the gouda from the supermarket? Barry wasn’t convinced. Barry loved his wife, but sometime Jane could be so difficult!

And to top it all off, they had company!

Barry genuinely liked John, despite only being friends with him for a short while. Some of the guys at the office gave John a hard time for his life choice to always dress in drag, and it had taken Barry a while to not feel uncomfortable with it, but once he was past his comfort-zone, Barry saw that they had a lot in common. They both liked golf, they both enjoyed classic cars, they watched the same movies, and they enjoyed the same food! John even got along with Barry’s wife, and she could be particular with Barry’s work friends.

Barry pulled up to a red light and sighed. He seemed to be hitting every light on this drive, causing it to take far more time than it usually would. His mind briefly thought about leaving the house as he had, forcing Jane to play hostess.

One good thing about having a crossdressing friend was that Barry felt entirely safe leaving him at home with Jane, something Barry would never do with his other work friends. Sure, John wasn’t gay, but there was no way Jane would ever go for a guy like that. She had chosen Barry because he was rugged, strong, and masculine. Everything John was not. They would probably spend their time looking through magazines, swapping fashion tips, or giving each other make-overs.

The light turned green and Barry hit the accelerator. He had a long way to go, and traffic was heavy. With another deep sigh, he turned on the radio and tried to make the best of his drive. The things a husband will do, he thought to himself, to make his wife happy...
