Options are laid out

"There aren't many options, really. You can return to your life, trying to be wary of the fact that any order a man gives you could lead to control being wrestled away from you," the doctor said.

I was still shaking, as I took that in. "I don't know how feasible that is... all it would take is one comment, and..." I could feel tears stinging my eyes, and I was barely able to hold them back.

"Yes. There have been situations similar to this, in which the individuals had themselves committed to facilities that could help them manage their unique circumstances. It's not ideal by any stretch, but it is an option."

The idea of being committed to a facility, living the rest of my life in an institution, it wasn't what I wanted.

I looked at the doctor, and made my decision.
