Chapter 19 by Blackhand Blackhand

Which did you see?

Option: The Romantic Movie

You decided on a period romance entitled Letters from Afar. It detailed, with Hollywood exaggeration, the doomed love between two nobles in the 19th century.

After having grown up together, the girl’s family moved across the ocean to Canada. But, as teenagers they continued to write personal, even passionate, letters to each other. Always the more passionate of the two, he persuaded her to stay true to him. When he came of age, he would abandon his family, move across the Atlantic and marry her. But, at his family’s behest, he met another woman and agreed to marry. Tormented, he continued writing letters to his beloved, pretending he had followed his oath.

Many years later, the girl gets tired of his delays and excused. She takes a newfangled steam boat back to England to surprise him, only to learn that he’s long married. Horrified that she had devoted her life to him, she jumped to hear **** into the Atlantic.

Meanwhile, he had been wrestling with his conscience for years. He finally resolved to leave his wife and crossed the ocean, taking the same boat that his deceased lover had. There he learned what fate had befallen her. Distraught, he wrote one final letter and left it in the chest where she stored his other letters. Then, he too leapt into the Atlantic.{if Romantic = true}

(Romantic) Truthfully, by this point you were tearing up a little bit. There was something really heart rending about the idea of it all. Two people who were meant for each but who were pulled apart by tragic circumstances and their own failings.

You wiped your eyes with your sleeve, hoping no one would notice. Though, you were sure your wife knew. She’d seen you react this way to plenty of romantic movies in the past. She even liked to tease you about it sometimes.{endif}{if Romantic = false}{if Male = true}

Truthfully, you only caught part of the ending. There were a few moments where you got bored and lost interest, instead focusing on your wife to see how she would react to the movie. Though, in retrospect, later on you would end up musing on this movie quite often, even re-watching it on your laptop at a later date.{endif}{if Female = true}

You enjoyed the movie on the first watch, though there were a few moments that left you scoffing in disbelief. Really, why would any woman subject herself to the emotional **** that he put her though? Guys really were such idiots.{endif}{endif}
