On to the Adventurers Guild

They ate. They secured a place to sleep. They equipped up their last member. Now, they were broke.
Maybe not exactly broke, but it was safe to say they'd be very soon if they couldn't find a way to make money.

This town offered many options to make money for beauties like Lia, Fira and Nia, but selling their bodies to any degree wasn't within their plans if they could help it... or even if they couldn't, Lia and her knight especially not even contemplating the more obscene ways to make money even if they were to really go broke.

Luckily enough, a job was something an adventurer would never lack. If anything, what was up for discussion was the skill needed to properly finish it and get paid, as failing would mean having to pay a fine at best, whereas if worst came to worst... a life of slavery. In a mine for males, in a brothel for women. There may be some variations to both fates, but the end result wouldn't change.

Thoughts of failing didn't even cross Lia's mind as she led her group into this town's branch of the Adventurers Guild, a pretty big building with an equally large reception full of people. All kind of people, from brawny swordsmen to petite mages.
Her group wouldn't usually stand out in such a place, though the presence of three such beauties like them sure drew many glances as they made her way to the receptionist.

To be precise, Lia and Ryu went here while Fira and Nia walked towards the quest board in order to get some decent job.

"What can i help you with?" chimed a young beauty from behind the counter, shifting her look among the two new guests in front of her.

"We're here to sign him up as an adventurer. He's Ryu, our tank. Oh, i'm Lia, F Rank, leader of the Pink Lilies" Lia explained their intentions and the girl nodded. It was obvious she didn't know any Lia or Pink Lilies, but it wouldn't hinder her from doing her job.

Ryu, on the other hand, was flabbergasted. Pink Lilies? He'd be a pink lily too by joining this party? For a second he regretted his choice, was joining a party with such a feminine name really a good idea?
Yes, it was. He was sure of it as soon as he remembered what sort of beauties he'd spend his days with from now on.

In the meantime the receptionist passed him a sheet of paper to compile with his credentials, which he did before getting his adventurer card... or it should have gone like so, if not for the receptionist asking 5 gold coins to complete the procedure.
Lia's fury got ignited by the unexpected request as joining the guild was usually free, but the receptionist talked her way out of it by explaining this was a border outpost and people here are supposed to already be adventurers, not take up the job here. It'd take some work to send the application to the Headquarters, and the 5 coins would cover that cost.

In the end, Lia had to begrudgingly pay for Ryu's card and watch her wallet grow steadily thinner.
Now, they didn't even have enough to pay for another night at the inn, not unless they slept in the communal rooms. And it wouldn't even include food...

Luckily the guild was a place to make money, and by regrouping with Fira and Nia they also knew what sort of mission they were about to undertake.

Description: Gather 10 Vivingeer Roots.

Rewards: 10 gold coins. 1 gold coin for each additional root.

A classical gathering quest. They needed to get as many roots as possible and consign them to the receptionist in order to obtain a reward. Since it wasn't an unique quest nor they needed to register it upon their names, there was also no penalty nor deadline to it.
An easy quest. A quest for newbies. Low reward, but no real risk aside from the unexpected. A quest anyone would pick up.

This obviously wasn't what Lia had in mind when she ran away from home, but it would easily patch up their disastrous financial situation. After all, they just needed to grab as many Vivingeer roots as they could, didn't they?

As an additional note, the quest giver recommended the Great Forest in the east as the best place to get those roots, though he also warned about the goblins and baboochs in the areas.

"Babooch?" Asked Ryu, not understanding what kind of creature it was, though Fira promptly answered "A vermin"

The answer obviously didn't clear up Ryu's doubts, but Fira didn't seem like she'd say anything more than she already did and so Lia took over "Pretty much a monkey's caricature of a goblin. Some say they're related, an hybrid of sorts among goblins and baboons. Anyway, they are as much of a vermin to society as their green cousins"

"And they like to kiss girls" chided in Niah'la from the side "When they see a girl, they just have smooch their lips. So they've been called babooch. A babbon's smooch. So...""...disgusting" Fira was the one to finish Nia's explanation, the latter pouting after getting interrupted. Not for long though, as she kept going "They're not disgusting! Or rather, wherever there's a babooch there would also be Ta'mah's love fruits, so they're more like sacred beasts nurturing our goddess blessing!"

Fira obviously didn't agree, but the one to speak out was Ryu "Blessing? Love fruit? What are you talking about?"

Niah'la was more than happy to keep her religious talk going "Yes, out goddess Ta'Mah's favourite fruit is the Vanana. She blessed it so anyone who'd eat it would gain happiness in love, and therefore believers like me reverently call it the love fruit. I'm sure you'll love it too once you get a taste of it!"

Vanana and Babooch. They did say that monkeys liked to eat bananas, but was the same in this other world too? At least the names seemed to fit.
