On the drive

You couldn't believe what had happened. You literally could barely process it. You'd made a "walk of shame" through an upscale hotel lobby like you were some executive's escort. Strutting through an office in a secretary's outfit seemed plain by comparison, and all that was nothing compared to... the elevator... the morning stimulation, all the things leading up to this point... It felt insane, like you didn't have the first clue on how to work through it. The fact you were a guy seemed to be completely at odds to how people were seeing and treating you and it had escalated into situations that you were completely inexperienced at handling. You were trying to process what happened last night and the morning but you didn't want to think about it. You needed to escape, but you didn't know where. All of last night happened as a result of trying to escape.

Your mind was so immersed in your thoughts that you could forgiving for noticing the buildings getting higher and higher as the car moved on. You'd been so focused on what was behind you you could barely keep track with what was in front of you. An unrelated beep of a car horn brought you back to the present and you suddenly saw you both were downtown.

"Where are we? Where are we going?"

"Work, I said that earlier."

Your mouth gaped open. You looked down at your shiny dress and boots. You'd made the best attempt you could to clean up your hair and smudged makup this morning, but it's seductive intent still remained. You'd only intended to touch it up enough so you could get out of the hotel without being recognised. "I can't go to work like this!"

"Honey, normally I'd be happy to find you a new little number, but there's a very important meeting I've got to attend and we set out a bit late."

"So what am I meant to do? Walk around the office like this?"

"Oh, I'd love that... but honestly, I thought you'd have already arranged a change of clothes at the office. You're normally quite organised with things like that."

"With things like..." your mind clicked, EDNA had delivered clothes to the office for you before. That was it!"Of course." It was still a gamble, but given how you were right now...

You rooted around in your purse that you were getting more used to carrying. You found the phone and booted it up. You're not sure if it had gone off or a more serious standby, but it took a bit longer than usual before the screen turned on and you made a best guess on which app to hit.

"Hello Jane," EDNA's voice broadcast from the phone. "Were you successful in your goal of sleeping with Raymond Teller?"

Your face blanched. Your jaw dropped wide open. You didn't even want to turn to see what expression Raymond had right now, though you could swear you could hear him looking at you.

"Never mind that," you say in a higher pitched, strained voice. "I need a change of clothes delivered to the office. Work clothes."

"Understood, you are continuing to work at Earnest Lumber?"

"Yep!" You couldn't say much else with Ray in the car.

"Very well, your professional clothes will be delivered within the hour."

You exhale for what seems to be the first time in a long while. "Thank you EDNA," you say, not sure if you've ever said that before.

"I am happy to assist you!"

Your arm goes limp as conversation ends and the phone settles on the shiny dress skirt over your lap. With trepidation you look to your right. Raymond is looking straight ahead at the road, like it's the only thing needing attention (which given the traffic is probably the right thing to do). You look a moment longer to determine what he's thinking. He keeps his eyes on the road and his expression steady, but if you look hard enough, you think you see a subtle grin.
