"I'm wrecked," Julie murmurs. "Can we sit?"

Sometime later, Julie's phone beeps. She doesn't move.

A few minutes later, Julie's phone rings. She startles awake and takes the call.

"Alvin? No, I'm fine, honey," Julie says. "I'm not working late. I'm right here in the driveway. I'm sorry, Gloria made me come so hard, again and again, she wrecked me with her fingers. And I fell asleep."

You feel your face go hot with embarrassment. Even now, you know it's wrong, in a sense, and your daughter Jillian would explain, and you would agree. But Julie has had a sexual crush on you while she's been hooking up with contract nurses like Lorelei, and with a definitely unethical partner, the intern Julie supervised, Cara Volsky.

Your fingers are sticky with the juices of your definitely unethical partner, the nurse you supervise, Julie Paul, R.N., B.S.N. Your fingers are still sticky when Alvin comes out to help you get Julie into her house, and into her bed.

"Thank you, Gloria," Alvin tells you at the door. "I'm just happy she's home. You've been her dream girl, you know? Take good care of her and bring her home to me. Like tonight."

You feel a chill inside. "I'll do my best, Alvin," you say. "Julie has been my best nurse for years. I had no idea she was in love with me." A warm flush replaces the chill. "But now I do, and I'm so glad. So grateful."

Vincent is cross when you get into bed. He's slightly mollified because you saved a taste of Julie for him on your thumb.

He laughs and thanks you. "Save it until tomorrow morning," he says. "Maybe you'll wake up before I do."

To bed, to bed.

You and Julie are not on shift with the Health Outreach Bus, so tomorrow will be more your own to command.
